La Couronne du Comte clearance/closeout sales

A basket also needs to be worth the shipping cost. To my location it quoted $36. I would have needed to spend more than €50 for it to have been worthwhile and there wasn't enough all at once at any time to reach that (even including full price items that weren't in stock). I tried to play several times, but things would disappear from the cart faster than i could find to put in!

Will work for pens...

Yes, especially when the vast majority of items offered in this ongoing round of clearance sales are priced at less than €50 each. (The one that stood out, and was only there briefly yesterday, was an Esterbrook Nook 2-pen case.) The low-end Parker and Cross fountain pens now added come closer to that than most other products; but who wants them anyway? So you really have to be keen to pick up multiple units (in different colours, perhaps) of the Super5 calligraphy fountain pen, the Caran d'Ache Fixpencil 2mm pencil lead holder, the Pebble A5 leather folio, etc.; or just sweep up many bottles of inks at once, but then there was only typically one bottle, or less likely two bottles, of each ink colour in stock on clearance offer to pick up.

It helps having some stuff on the wish list in one's account in LCdC's web shop. To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't have clued in a week ago to what was going on, had I not set up a wish list and spotted something unexpected in relation to one of the items on it.

Well, @lascosas managed to get the jump on several things that were in my cart too, haha!

Notably, there were 9 bottles of Waterman Serenity Blue, 8 bottles of Waterman Harmonious Green, 5 bottles each of Platinum Classic Ink Sepia Black and Noodler's Ink Golden Brown, and 3 bottles of Noodler's Ink #41 Brown, if I recall correctly. I didn't check every brand, though, and didn't bother to look at either the Diplomat or Faber-Castell 30ml ink bottles, for example.

I don't want leather *anything*. It put me off ordering the new Kaweco Perkeo colours, made in collaboration with Moleskine, because they ship with a leather pen thingy. That's a personal choice, no judgement on what anyone else would have, but it matters very much to me.

I have an ordinary black 2mm Fixpencil. They're fantastic and the purple one was so pretty, but... $42. What else could one acquire with that much? Isn't that always the question? In this sale several Noodler's inks! I did actually have that combo - Fixpencil and inks - in my cart and slept on it. LOL. Gone by morning. Silly me.

The Super5 stub I've had on my wishlist for years, but I only wanted one - different colours would come later if I liked the pen and it was good at sealing and all the other things one considers with an unknown brand or model. Doesn't matter, there's an Australia seller with some too and a birthday not too far off.

Etc etc. Round and round it went. I began putting together a cart when you first mentioned it because I wanted to vote in support of LCdC, fully prepared to add in full price items to get over the line, but then saw the shipping cost and realised it was wiping out any savings from the sale.

I'm pleased they had the event, in the manner they did, if it worked positively for the health of the store because I want LCdC to be there when I'm next looking for something pretty that's valuable enough to warrant the shipping to my backwoods.

Will work for pens...

The recent exchange rate between the Euro and USD, added to the 10% discount I used, meant when I looked at the euro price for an item I knew I would be paying slightly less in dollars.  And the shipping cost if I didn't meet the free shipping amount was $16.  Add up all of that, and a very appealing sale for me.

A lot of the stuff I would have been interested in is gone already, but on the other hand they recently added a few other things that I might want 🤷🏼‍♀️

I find this bit-by-bit clearance kinda ..difficult tbh.

If you look there are some brands that have only one item left, and they are not at specials but almost  gone and at reduced price.

Spoiler

A rather limited number of units of Krishna ink with this strange-looking bottle has just been added to the Specials page:

Never mind. Gone.

Grrrr. I got beaten to it a second time for a bottle of El Lawrence, now that another smattering of Noodler's Ink colours has been added to the clearance sales overnight! 😞

Ah well. At least I got my cheap bottle of Platinum Citrus Black. It was disappointing early on to see five bottles of Sepia Black only among Platinum Classic Ink colours, and that's the only one I don't want more of.

Anyone for a blindingly bright pink Faber-Castell Ambition? 😎

I wanted it, but then i read your comments on the sealing capacity not being very good on the Ambition. :crybaby:

It isn't very good on the Faber-Castell Ambition, at least not until you fix it by plugging the hole in the roof of the inner cap (which seems to be made haphazardly, and not consistently by machine; the holes are different in all three of my Ambition pens). I plugged two out of three by gluing small plastic discs over the holes (without doing it properly by removing the inner caps first), which improved the cap seal effectiveness on them but still far from perfect. That probably increases the likelihood of ink being drawn out from the nib to spray the interior of the inner cap if the pen is uncapped quickly, though.

Yes!  And Tokyo Rose ink to go in it.

I see (or, more accurately, guess) you also snapped up all the other red and pink Noodler's inks while you were at it. :)
