Hello Fellow FPNers - I'm in love with J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor, not only for its gorgeous teal color but for its shimmering qualities, its saturated color and its wetness.  Can anyone recommend another ink that has all these qualities but is a blue ink, rather than teal?  Must be saturated, not milky or muted.

Current favorite pen: Montblanc 144 Meisterstuck purchased at Art Brown in 1984. After decades, every part has been replaced except the nib. Still a gorgeous writing instrument, rock-solid reliable, gives me hours of pleasure to use.

Current favorite ink: Colorverse Supernovs

Current favorite paper: Romeo notepads

I find the Herbin Ocean Blue a bit disappointing - perhaps it's the gold shimmer where I think silver would have worked better, or just that there isn't enough of it.

There are some nice Diamine shimmer blues - including the navy of Arabian Nights, cobalt  of Starlit Sea or Cobalt Jazz, royal of Blue Flame or Blue Pearl, deep Arctic Blue and several other shades ranging right up to turquoise.

Then De Atramentis make some amazing shimmer inks, with silver, gold and bronze versions of many of them (I like the Colombia Blue base colour).

Robert Oster's Shake n Shimmy Range includes a couple of nice blues, but might be too dry by comparison, and the same might go for FWPs Stroke of Midnight, which is one of my current favourite blue shimmers.

The surprising one that you might want to try is Manuscript - their Persian Brocade is lovely - and very affordable, and one of a number of good, saturated blues.

Or you could just add some Pearlex or Pearl Lustre to your favourite blue ink.

Herbin's Kyanite du Nepal.

Van Dieman's Bioluminescence is a spectacular example.  They have others in the blue range with shimmer too.  Azure Kingfisher springs to mind ...

Cheers,

My votes would be for Diamine Arctic Blue and Jack Frost. From Robert Oster Blue Moon. Maybe also Diamine Happy Holidays, and Robert Oster Silver Fire and Ice, though the last one is a little bit teal.

I’m going through a shimmer/sheen ink stage right now.  I have several of the JHerbin shimmer inks…most are disappointing.  I do love Emerald of Chivor, but sometimes it’s too green for me so I mix it with a little Bleu Ocean, which I don’t really care for on it’s own.  The two colors mixed are beautiful, a deep navy with a touch of teal.

Some new ones I have tried, that are nicely saturated and aren’t too teal, are:

Diamine Jack Frost - turquoise when wet, but darkens to a deeper shade when dry.  Some light blue shimmer, but mostly red/pink sheen (I find most of the Inkvent inks that are listed as shimmer are inconsistent.  Sometimes you will see the shimmer, sometimes you won’t)

Diamine Polar Glow - a deep royal blue with reddish sheen

Diamine Midnight Hour - deep violet blue with a copper sheen - not sure if this one is supposed to have shimmer too, if it is, whoever prepared my sample didn’t shake the bottle first

Diamine Starlit Sea - gorgeous muted denim color with silver shimmer…my favorite.  I tried the sample and immediately ordered the full size

I also just got a sample of Diamine Shimmering Seas, it’s ok.  Dull navy base color, kind of watery, silver shimmer.

I would say Jack Frost is the only one that could really be considered turquoise/teal-ish, though still a beautiful shade. The others are more true blues.

I think the Birmingham Twinkle inks are amazing and BLUE.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Only the TWINKLE inks have sparkle / shimmer. BUT the RICH inks have amazing sheen.

Wow-the “e” & “s” in “Tesla” in picture 7 are really three dimensional looking when you zoom in on it.  That was with the Nagahara Concord in an M200?

Yeas that is the Nagahara Concord in abn M200.

Every one of the RICH formula I have tried, SHEEN.  As for the Twinkle, it is kind of a pain to clean out because after I filled the Osprey, I just added water for another two fills and you could still see color and shimmer.  I really like the
