What was your last very deliberate pen purchase?

Thank you @AmandaW  the MB Corn Poppy Red ink is harder to get to, so I chose an easy to access ink. I do want to try Corn Poppy Red in the pen. I’m not sure if I’ve ever used that ink in a pen with a stub or italic nib.

Hmmm... I have a MB Corn Poppy still in it's box. Is it crazy cost to send it half way around the world? How do I figure out the best way?

Misfit would enjoy an unbirthday, I have thought that often and here's the perfect thing. Anyone know which AusPost options are best?

Will work for pens...

Australia Post would be your cheapest option. A$25.90 for up to 500g, which would accommodate one 50ml glass bottle and its contents, plus protective material, plus corrugated cardboard shipping carton. I don't see any explicit prohibition and restriction against getting inks into the US by post, and I have done so successfully before (years ago now) despite declaring everything clearly. Expect to have to fill in all that EAD (Electronic Advance Data) rigmarole these days.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Ah shucks.  I have a bottle of MB Corn Poppy Red.  It is in a plastic tote that has more ink bottles on top of the tote. Plus some items are on top of the ink bottles. It takes moving those items to get to the ink in the tote. I didn’t want to do that yesterday.

That postage cost would buy another bottle of MB ink. So I say, save that money for you. I appreciate the thought very much.

Anyway, right now I’m obsessing over Solmate Socks mismatched socks. I already have many pairs. But something made me look at their website. Drool. I ended up ordering 5 pair.  I can’t wait to see the pair called Aloe.

The website had the Aloe pair at the top on the model’s feet. But they are discontinued, and after emailing them, they replied with links to retailers having them in stock. I got Aloe, Chick-a-dee, Pumpkin Pie, Horizon and Holly which was on sale. The last three came from Solmate Socks, which sent a coupon code in the verify email message.  I missed seeing the 15% off. ☹️

I’ve been pondering getting a Pilot Prera Iro Ai in pink. I saw it on Reddit. It was in a post showing three pens, including the Pelikan white tortoise and a special SailorxAncora pen with pansies on it.  Mainly I got to thinking I wanted it because of the Berry Leuchtturm notebook I recently bought.

The cool thing is it comes with a converter and the M Calligraphy nib. How can I not buy it?  I’m still thinking though, because I’m not fond of the cap liner. I have the light blue version. I’ll get it out, and look at it to see if the liner looks ok.

I ended up buying the Pilot Prera Iro Ai in pink last night. With the converter included for $35, it couldn’t be passed up.

I tried to purchase a Preppy with an Extra Fine nib. Placed my order via Amazon but was then told that the order was cancelled due to a lack of stock.

I then set out to find another extra fine nib pen and, recalling a blog post by a terrible enabler, https://rupertarzeian.com/  I went in search of the Jinhao extra fine. I had already purchased a fine nib X159 but after reading his post on mix and matching them, I ordered an Extra Fine and a different colour pen.

The pen should arrive today!

Well, that X159 with EF nib arrived and I am so impressed with it.

Filled it with Diamine Graphite and it is a really fantastic writer.

Now I am thinking of getting more of them. I will go through Aliexpress though as they are a lot cheaper - I have, for some reason, been nervous about buying from Aliexpress but it seems that it is quite safe to do so.

@Stompie I was hesitant as well. As with you, the orders went well.

I haven't ordered anything from them yet, I was about to but can not get any of the X159 with an EF nib so I may just revert to Amazon again.

My last deliberate pen purchase was a Pelikan M800 with a gorgeous "F" nib. My first big Pelikan purchase. My first was a Pelikan 400NN but it's so small lol.

@inkstainedadventure congratulations on your Pelikan purchase. I hope you enjoy it for years to come.

Thank you!! I am so far loving it. It has joined my little group of grail pens and it fits right in with them. I can see more Pelikan purchases in the future lol
