What was your last very deliberate pen purchase?

I’ve been waiting for Levenger to either discontinue some True Writer pens, or have a good sale. That happened yesterday. @lantanagal alerted me to a sale. I got the two pens I wanted for half off. The color names are Northern Lights and Carrara.

I don’t know if I’d call this a “very deliberate” purchase or not since I didn’t expect find one.  Ishimaru Bunkoudou in Nagasaki’s website said they’d been sold out for a long time.   However, when we went there during our recent trip to Japan, they had one last one left in their display case.  I had admired this pen on ebay for a couple of years but haven’t been able to bring myself to pull the trigger because people were asking $460 or more.  Ishimaru Bunkoudou was asking their standard price of 39000yen (w/o vat).  It was a very exciting find!

I’ve never owned a Sailor 21k fine nib before so it has been a new experience for me.  I think it feels even smoother than the 18k mf on my Sailor x Bungubox Norwegian Wood.  I didn’t expect to be able to discern much of a difference.  Could be the ink.  I’ll have to try them side-by-side with the same ink someday but that will have to wait until I tire of writing and drawing with such a fun pen!

Kamikaze purchase: Lamy 80, which will apparently take... Two months to reach me from Indonesia.

The day before yesterday, I ordered an LE Pelikan 200...copper  rose, from my B&M. Since convid, it hasn't been going good for that 5 genereation Pen shop.

He no longer has the supply of Pelikan pens...LE's in shop like he use to. So he had to order it from Pelikan.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

I got my holiday bonus a couple weeks ago and as is the tradition in the house, a certain amount is set aside for my wife and I to buy something for ourselves (the remainder goes to savings).

I've wanted a Lamy 2000 for awhile now and my initial impulse was to get it. Then I second-guessed myself. Did I even want a pen? Maybe something else not pen-related (I know! Crazy!), you know? Maybe a different pen altogether. I have others I want, of course.

But the more I thought about it, and the difficulty in thinking of anything non-pen-related I wanted kept bringing me back to the Lamy.

So, I finally gave in and got it. As well as some Lamy ink, which seems only right, eh? (Of course, when I got it, I promptly put in the Iroshizuku shin-kai because that's just how I roll....

@number_seven evidently if you don’t use Lamy ink, you void the warranty. I remember this from when I got mine years ago on what was then Mass Drop. Commenters mentioned Lamy ink and the warranty. So I read the warranty, and sure enough, it was in the warranty.

So I used Lamy ink first.

Uhhh, I had to look that up. In the US, it is illegal for manufacturers to wholesale void a warranty because one does not use their products in another of their products. I just looked myself and it says that Lamy will not cover under warranty any damages that arise from using non-Lamy inks.

That's reasonable and a big difference from what I think you said. But maybe I misinterpreted what you said and we're saying the same thing.

@number_seven I was trying to recall something from maybe a decade ago. Probably should have looked it up before posting. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your Lamy 2000 once you have it.

My last deliberate pen purchase was a Kaweco sport (M) which I am thoroughly enjoying. I had one years ago that disappeared during one of several moves and I decided another one was in order.

In fact, I'm liking this one so much, I think a Kaweco Sport piston filler is next on my list!
