There is a face on the band as well a crab and other critters. It is very intricate. The top of the clip is also a helmeted head.

Very cool.  Is it supposed to be any particular person?

I have no idea. I have another Stipula with the same hardware, but I know nothing of the origins of the design.

After cleaning a 1.1mm stub nib from another pen, and putting it in my new Retro 51 Orange pen, I put ink in it. Here is the discontinued Orange.

Today I got to the office realizing that I'd left my inked pens in another briefcase. Thus I HAD TO INK ANOTHER PEN, I mean really, I had no choice.

Today is an old favorite the custom Thompson with a custom stubbed Sailor Music Nib.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Chris Thompson makes fabulous pens, and your nib just enhances it! 😊👍

Ok, I think these pictures go here.

I was going to start this by writing "if you like stub nibs..." but really I should start with: if you don't like stub nibs, then consider the Fountain Pen Revolution #6 stubs.

This is because I tend to dislike factory steel stub nibs as they lack tipping. I have a gold Jowo 1.1 (which is tipped) and it's nice, but it's lays down a wider line than I prefer. (Worth noting that I also write fast and can't stand when stubs or music nibs snag on the paper.)

With this 1.0 FPR steel stub, I may have a new favorite. You can get them in Jowo units so they're ready for an easy swap. These factory stubs have tipping which is a game changer for me. Also they have a slight amount of yield which I find pleasant. And a nice surprise is even with a cartridge and the stock plastic feed, the ink flow is generous.

Oh, and the final praise is that these nibs are roughly half the cost of Jowo stubs.

Now that is good info...I haven't tried one of the FPR stubs yet.
I'll pick up two, one to use...and one to mod!

Oooh nice! Congrats on the SODF nib!
And a stub at that!
Good choice! I have the original SODF nib but it's too soft for my heavy hand.

I am lucky, I usually don't have a heavy hand.

I’ve had many stub nib pens with ink that I’ve neglected to share here. This pen got cleaned and refilled today. The Elemental Notebook (Electron) used here has 52gsm Tomoe River paper.

A new pen is at last filled. The paper is Tomoe River paper in an Elemental Electron notebook. After I wrote about how much did the ink look like burnt orange, I wasn’t sure if I was right about the papers.
