Pictures of the new M800 black and red binde

pix

Recommended Posts

Here are two quick pictures (taken with phone, sorry for the bad quality) showing that the new M800 red stripes binde is actually NOT opaque. The underlying plastic seems to have an orange-ish tone, and one can see through it easily.

A third picture shows what appears to be the new Pelikan pouch the pen came in (inside a cardboard box with magnetic lid).

As an aside: I ordered the pen, along with the matching ballpen, yesterday, from ZafPens, Greece. The pens arrived in Italy today (after less than 24 hours) with free shipping, and Dimitrios (the lovely owner of the shop) added three Iroshizuku inks as a gift. No affiliation, just a happy (returning) customer.

wow, thanks a lot for your first-hand experience of observing the beautiful resurrected M800 black/red

the areas between stripes are indeed still transparent, contradicting the extrapolation made by those who jumped the gun before any official announcement from Pelikan

anyway, hopefully Pelikan will continue making their barrels using translucent binde or else I would witness an immense change in a pen behemoth during my FP life

last but not least, wish you happy writing ✍️ with this gorgeous, elegant, wonderful… fountain pen

The barrel is indeed translucent! That is good news. However, Penchalet said that the first pens would be that way, while eventually the opaqueness would take place:

Yes, the message I saw said that current production Stressmann and Green stripes had already changed to non-transparent with Blue and Red to follow. (With dealer stock being a little behind production.) It could all be a trick/rumor to get us to buy pens, now – if it is – I fell for it!

Congratulations! I am very happy for you!

A beautiful pen; I had one in my hand on Saturday and wrestled with myself for a long time whether my black and blue M805 didn't finally need a black and red partner.

But I'll have to wait a few months and save up; from experience, you can probably get a minimally used one (as a return) from a dealer at a significant discount.

You will be forgiven that you cannot, but never more that you do not want to.

That's a great looking pen!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
