What Pen did you clean out today?

Two unopened bottles of the original recipe of Baystate Blue sit there on the shelf begging me to use them...

Not sure I could ever do a cleaning that could come back from that journey.

I was lucky enough with Penman Sapphire, so maybe...

I have one or two pens I still do this with.

Yeah, I ran the Red Shadow Wave Vac for 3 years without any sort of maintenance or flushing -- just refilled it with Waterman Mysterious Blue after having it checked out.  I did then let it sit too long and had to replace the sac, so I'm being WAY more careful about keeping it in rotation now.

But for the most part I can't do that because I have too many inks just in general....

I'm still having problem with the red stained ink window of my Pelikan 200, that the Parker Penman Ruby sat in for a decade or two. I tried cleaning it out 6 times and every time I waited 12 or so hours, the paper towel was still reddish, and a red tinge came out in the bathroom sink.

I now have JB's pen flush in it. I fear I'll have to do that two or three times...with luck.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

I've read that Noodler's Red Rattler Eel is good at getting stains out of pen barrels.  I have a sample of it, but haven't ever gotten around to trying it.

So far today it's been the Lilac al-Star, and now it's the Parker Vector with the multicolor stripes on a black background.  Yesterday it was the Waterman Exclusive.

Hoping to get at least one or two more pens flushed out before I go to OPS this weekend (given that I will probably be getting a number of pens repaired and then inked up at the show).  Plus there's two or three OTHER pens I want to ink up -- including the Parker Vector Shrek Puss in Boots pen (now that the open bottle of Robert Oster Bishop to King has turned up so I can finish testing that ink) and few pens to write with (journaling, making notes about who's got what, signing the hotel register, etc. -- plus maybe taking another stab at NaNoWriMo...).

My Lamy Al-Star in 'Petrol' is currently in 'clean-up'.

I'm surprised at how much ink I've been getting out of its cap.
I reckon I must fidget with my pens far more vigorously than I previously thought 🤷‍♂️

I remember reading that too, and also the same thing about Sailor 'Doyou'.

Let's see: Pilot VP, Hingdian A9, MB 146, Parker 61. Also cleaned a 3776 but refilled it with a different Ink.

Laguna Niguel, California.

Pilot Custom 743 FA in verdergris that had Pilot green and my Narwhal Nautilus M. I’m glad that was just a partial fill as BPC Tesla Coil is too wet for that pen. I’m bracing for a bunch of pens to run out of ink pretty soon.

Too many pens hanging about with ink in so... Sheaffer 500 Dolphin touchdown, 2 Geha Stenos, Conway Stewart Shorthand and an unknown Reform with a hooded nib. Now have only 3 inked up.

Visconti Opera Carousel Demo in green and a Pelikan M200 demonstrator with a factory italic nib.  Sadly had too much ink left in both but necessitated by travel plans.  Left ink in my new Jinhao and my Levenger with the refillable rollerball...let's hope that was a wise idea!

Cleaned out my Platinum President.  The Carbon Black was not playing nicely with the EF nib.

Cleaned out my Pelikan Twist. Edelstein Golden Lapis seems not to work for me in any pen.

Cleaned and put away the FPUK LE pen with the broad nib that isn't broad that refuses to write consistantly.  It's a nice pen and one of the two plunger filling pens I own, but it's now relegated to the 'Not Functioning Properly' category.

Not today but a couple days ago. A '94 date marked IIII, Firedance Sonnet. The red marbled one of the pen lot I won the weekend before this.

Faber Caste; is the matt sterling silver one to the right of the Fire Dance. In the middle is an Aurora Optima, looks to be a M, so is an Aurora B.

Aurora use to make the narrowest Euro nib, close to Sailor wide.

That Optima is the next to get cleaned.

That fire Dance could be an M, but there is no size marking that I can find...Then the Faber Castel, which has a small diamond  nib, from the days of that small diamond being a grand nib...unfortunatly at semi-nail, not even regular flex.

Sill be cleaning pens with hopes of making a ink review....so want F, M and B.

I do have a real filled dirty pen cup...so ink revues choice, has nothing to do with new pens. An F, M and B, tear drop or stub nib.A300-1036-768x589.jpg.29b17493b7ed85d13a97add9ef3bcba1.jpg

So far, a week into use, I've had no problems with my Sonnet.....and hope it stays there. For decades Sonnets were cruddy pens, nothing but problems here on the Com.

Those that worked  didn't get bad mouthed.

I’m cleaning out my Lamy 2000 EF. The ink went from red to hot pink.
