What Pen did you clean out today?

Today it was the unknown model Waterman Flighter with the syringe converter.  The ink that had been in it had been Waterman Serenity Blue (which had been diluted with distilled water when I couldn't find my bottle of Serenity Blue quickly enough a while back).  So, flushing the pen was pretty much a breeze between what had been in the pen and the really simple to use converter (the only downside to that style of converter is that I can't tell how much ink it holds, and that it's a solid color plastic with no ink window).

What is a "dauer nib"?  I don't think I've come across that term before.

As for me, today it was the Sheaffer Star Wars Pop "R2D2" pen, M nib, finishing a fill of diluted vintage Skrip V-Black.

It means more or less Manifold/nail nib.

Nail...manifold. Knowing that was able to avoid many a nail....but I'm sure I have at least two....hidden away.

Depending on where I go, I still earn something new every day...more inks and papers than pens...but once in a while even in pens...and there are so much of that, I've not touched, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese.

A Baoer 3035 I found inked in my pen holder. I’d mistakenly inked it with some calligraphy shimmer ink because I didn’t know any better at the time. I’m not sure how long it’s been in that pen holder, maybe a couple years. I rinsed it with tap water, soaked it in tap water, and then soaked it in soapy water. It finally started running clear so I set it out  to dry.

I’ve now inked it up with Waterman black and it’s writing just fine. What a nice find in my own stash.

A blue Safari, two Online pens. The Safari and one Online inked with Aurora Blue. One Online with a black nib...not inked, yet.

The Lamy 99, needs a new gasket, in while cleaning it, it leaks from the back.

My wife was a house reduction sale, and got 4 fountain pens for €5.

.............

Has anyone noticed how hard Lamy pens are to clean?

It took me over 40 minutes to clean the Lamy violet ink out of my Lamy 1990 Persona. Even then I'd not got all the ink out.

After 30 minutes of using my rubber bulb syringe on the Safari, I decided to stop and needle fill  the cartridge with some sort of blue ink.

Earlier in the week I cleaned my Newton, my M205 Apatite, and something else I can't remember now.

Yesterday I cleaned out a TWSBI Eco.
Today I cleaned a 1990s (probably 1990s) Pelikan M205.
Tomorrow I hope to clean out my Benu Minima. Should I succeed, I will have only 8 pens inked, since the Preppy and the Majohn Q2 are only for crosswords and sudoku so don't count against my total.

Of course I'm already considering what ink and pen pairings to make to fill the empty slots in the case...

I cleaned the first Nonami Chinese piston filler that I stubbed. The feed likes to hold onto some ink, it’s coming out slowly but surely. Surprisingly, the shimmer is out before the ink is.

I'm not supposed to be on the computer, I I just got a new plastic lens put in my eye..

Next week I get the other.

Painless.

So on two days, I cleaned 29 pens....

I may have place for 12-14 of them...before going back to the big walnut humidor. VzyfYI9.jpg

The burl veneer one, has etui's in it.

Geha piston pens with their reserve tank are the pens that take the most time to clean out.

.....................

Some of the cleaning out 'difficulties' came from the ink, in some Pleikans cleaned out fast, other not so fast.

..............

Many of the pens had decent steel or gold, regular flex nibs**; other semi-flex in gold or steel....and a couple super flex were cleaned out...gold nibs.

Regular flex nibs that I have are from long before Japanese 'soft' became a description of that flex rate. Japanese soft is a Pilot half moon grind....that is not semi-flex., but is a nice springy regular flex.

Hell, I'm not allowed to scribble enough to empty some of my 30 filled pens.

Not being able to read or do computer...I could end up doing some weird things....like dusting my den.

Whoopps....not allowed to dust.:P

Good, I'm lazy.

Before leaving on vacation, I cleaned out all pens but two.  I was trying to configure a travel set that supports journaling, sketching in sepia and a pocket set for sketching in black.  Ended up with a nice selection of 5 pens, two portable inkwells (purple and sepia) and a stash of black cartridges.  The journaling pen and sepia sketching set are working out great but I think I got silicone in the nib of a pocket pen when I swapped a broad nib for a medium.  Oh well.  Very inspired here in Italy and loving sketching in sepia ink with my first Sailor.  It’s performing as I’d hoped and proving to be the perfect pen for the job.
