Ever have a pen you wanted to really like but never bonded with? I have on several occasions.

One pen is my early Pelikan M600 Tortoise. It was originally a special edition of the M400 and were both the same size. Mine has the two chicks and a two-tone nib. When I first got it I tried to flush it with the nib on. At the time I was too afraid to disassemble the nib section to give it a proper cleaning. The piston was sticky and never really wrote the best.

Over time I have become more and more comfortable with taking pens apart. Today I removed the nib, flushed the pen and nib and used silicone grease applied with a cotton swab. At least now the piston is as slick as.... well you know.

I refilled it and time will tell if I start to like the pen better or the writing improves.

Cleaning out my Montblanc 320 concord today. It writes beautifully with Kon-Peki, but that ink seems to dry in a flash and clogs the poor pen. Gotta find a better blue for it...

Hi,

today I cleaned and resaced a De LaRue Junior pen.

My smallest lever filler, nib is a M+C (Cameron) #23

oblique cursive italic broad with good flex. 🙂

Tomorrow the pen will get filled...

My olive green Lamy Studio unexpectedly ran out of ink so I took the opportunity to flush it out pretty well.  I feel I need to be more “cleaning vigilant” with Platinum Carbon Black.

Today I cleaned out a "Zalantan" pen a friend gifted me because she spotted it on my Amazon list. (NTS: start a new list for "look at this later" items.)

My husband does this to me, a new ink or pen will appear because it was saved for later. It’s so nice!

I made the mistake of not cleaning my Go when I bought it and it suddenly stopped writing after many pages and most of a barrel of ink. I had to clean it out, and lose a little ink in the process. Now it is writing like it did when I got it, which is to say, marvelously.

Just cleaned out a Preppy 03. I inked it with Platinum Carbon Black about a month ago. Despite having flushed it prior to inking, and daily use, the thing started hard starting and skipping, which the usual methods did not remedy. Time to put something else in that pen.

My new FPR saffron orange Himalaya V2 CT stub, which had been filled with MontBlanc-Simplo Black with SuperCleaner SC21 in the gold "space capsule" bottle.

Its maroon rippled ebonite sibling had required a full teardown, with a scrub of the feed and flossing the nib slit with a brass sheet, when the last of my Lamy Dark Lilac wouldn't flow into the feed.  With FPR Blue-Black, it's behaving much better.
