Until Lamy brings out a new fountain pen model, I have no plans to buy another Lamy, when I/we already have the cp1 (three of them, actually), (four) Studio, (two) Imporium, (two) 2000, Scala, Accent, (three) Logo, and (I'm not sure how many) AL-Star and Safari pens here, and that's after giving away quite a few to family and friends. The Aion and Dialog 3 models don't interest me.

That's not to say I can't be tempted to get another AL-Star in the ‘right’ special edition colour. However, other than the Studio Lx All Black and cp1 in titanium oxide finish which I love using, the rest I'm only keeping for the sake of having them in my ‘library’ of pens, and taking one out for casual use now and then just because. The Accent has impressed me with its cap seal effectiveness, as have the Lamy 2000, so they can sorta stay inked and ready on standby; but, truth be told, I don't enjoy using them nearly as much as I do a variety of Chinese fountain pens, never mind the Japanese pens that completely outclass both.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

You may be tempted by this (I provide the link to the HK shop, and it looks as if there are a couple of other models in this livery)  LINK

Thank you very much for that! Indeed I would be tempted, and a previous mention of that nib in a different thread caught my eye (but I couldn't find a retailer from which I could order it). I'm not sure I can stomach the US$70 delivery charge, though, on top of the (at today's exchange rate) US$535 price for a Dialog 3. For less than that total spend, I can order a Michelangelo or Nonagon from Santini Italia, assuming a 10% discount which the company seems quite willing to offer from time to time, and ask for the Chinese calligraphy nib with customisation to make it narrower and sharper.

Likely the exclusive Blick Art store Safari box set, $29.00. White or black, and I think 7-8 different color ink cartridges along with it.

Here are the other two models (go with the Dialog up a couple of posts) - Safari and Studio (I think)

Just visited the Lamy store in NYC and spent some time looking at new and old models. I have most of the ones I want so it would be more a matter of getting a new color or material.

I will eventually get a dialog 3 in matte black because the finish is different enough from the palladium version I have and will feel differently in the hand.

I could conceive of getting the 2000M stainless steel. I have the SE 2000 from the year 2000 which has a macrolon section. The new version would be fun to have also.

But I just ended up getting a new nib, the Imporium black 14K EF which is currently in my Safari all black until I decide it would be better in the Studio all black or cp1. The nib is a marvel of line variation, smoothness, elasticity. Pretty amazing.

I was just in my local Dick Blick location yesterday.  I was surprised to see the Lamy display, but was going "Eh, the only color I want that they have is the Violet SE -- and I HAVE that...."

I meant to ask the cashier if they had fountain pen ink, but forgot.  I was in there to buy a drafting compass because my old one seems to have gone walkabout, and the first place I had gone in (the local Artists' and Craftsmen Supply store) only had junkers and super expensive ones, and I had already run way too many last minute errands this week.   And still had two more stores to go to after that.

A red Dialog 3? Red? Red???? WTH, I‘ve never seen one, even never dreamed there might be one some day.

That would almost be a reason to travel to Hongkong  (or to Heidelberg , and talk Mr Roesner out of one personally). Just under 500€ is a very steep price, but it's red. Red! Red!!!

Let's see, Heidelberg is only 300 km from here....

In the meantime, I bought the strawberry & cream yesterday (see also my review).

Doesn't that Hong Kong-based shop, to which Aether has provided a link, sell and deliver to customers ordering from Germany?

Edit: I just checked. Yes, it does. HKD550 postage to Germany.

A 2000 with an EF nib will be arriving tomorrow. I have had 4 and sold them all except one, but it will join my 2000 with a fine nib.  My only regret is that I did not tour the Lamy factory when I was in Heidelberg.

Majohn A2 (Fine) - Montblanc Irish Green

Parker "51" Aerometric (Broad, England) - Waterman Black

I might visit in Heidelberg in a few months. I would like to know if Lamy is organizing factory tours for the general public or just for invited guests? Is there a factory outlet or just a normal "flagship store" ?

First, you will really enjoy Heidelberg. I worked there for a few weeks some years ago.  I am not sure about factory tours, but the Lamy Flagship Store is in the center of old town Heidelberg a couple blocks west of the Church of the Holy Spirit (which is surrounded by some wonderful pastry stops).  Let us know what you buy!

Thanks. I don't think I'll be back empty-handed. 🙂
