This is the incredible Sailor King of Pen Battle of Itsukushima LE in full focus stacked macro glory. The artist is Ikki Moroiki and the total number of pens is 33. The presentation box is also incredible in black lacquer and maki-e. Details of the maki-e on the box are shown below.

That is stunning! Thanks for sharing the photos.

Now that, to me, is a worthwhile limited edition pen from Sailor. I'm just so tired of Sailor's mass-market ‘limited editions’ that do little more than just mixing-and-matching or colour-blocking different plain resin components of its standard pen models. At least make a special, short production run resin that, once the stock has been depleted, would be too much trouble or too costly in set-up to reproduce in a second batch! Of course, it's preferable that the limited edition is not only limited to using here-today-gone-tomorrow stock of raw material, but relies on labour-intensive craftwork from artisans who may not remain in the manufacturer's employ, or be available to accept Sailor's commission, all the time.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Truly beautiful pen!  I haven't been the same since you posted your Namiki Coral and now you add this?  Oh my!
