I just came back from a 10-day cruise from San Francisco to Alaska. It was my first time there, and we enjoyed Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and a trip up the Tracy Arm fjord.

We touched down in Victoria, BC on the way back. While our wives shopped for jewelry, etc. my friend and I visited a really nice pen store there (Simply the Best on Broad St.). where he bought his first FP since he'd been in high school -- a beautiful Omas Paragon FP; it was fun to see him try out a few pens (dipping), and falling in love with the one he chose (I can't remember the exact model).

For the trip I'd brought my trusty Lamy Safari (EF), fitted with a Lamy blue cartdridge. The ink was not great, but the pen was fun to use. I carried it everywhere on the ship, and didn't worry for a moment about losing it.

Imagine my pleasure arriving home to 22 (!) postcards. Wow!

My warm thanks to:

The toughest part of this Postcard Swap is keeping track of who I mailed cards to and who sent cards to me (I use an Excel chart, but it's still a pain!).

It is so much fun to get the cards and messages from all over the world. It's one thing to go on and on in the Forum about one's favorite pens and inks; but getting a personal hand-written message that uses a FP makes it a fun event.

I never thought that my foray into the fountain pen world would lead to this!

Please PM me if you'd like to get my "View from my back deck" postcard (I only have 60 left) ;) .

Hi Hdubious76,

As I mentioned in my PM, when I wrote your card, the ship was in Victoria, BC; I had US postage on the card, so I had to wait until I got back home to mail it.

Thanks for your great card, btw!

My Apologies to EVERYONE!! My computer died & is in the shop. My car died on the turnpike & had to get towed 60 miles & is now in the shop. The rental car had issues. A friend had issues...it's been one of those weeks. Postcards will be in the mail to everyone monday. I have gotten a bunch in the last few days, and I am feeling guilty for not being to keep up with everything this week!

G'day S&S - hope your week gets better. Take some quiet relief with your pens and postcards - can be good therapy.

Cards received from Con. pmorin and Raiche58. And a letter from elena.

Con, Enjoyed the PR Arabian Rose and the italic nib. Thanks for sharing.

pmorin, are you kidding me :roflmho: I can't write that small (and legibly) even with a fine nib. Love the wax seal.

may have to look into that myself.

Raiche58, anyplace where I experience a great temptation to buy is a "buy me-buy me". And pen shows are "buy me-buy me" big time.

The first and last one I attended was the Dallas pen show in 2006. Walked away with 6 or 7 pens. Danger to the pocketbook. May try to go again

this year.

elena, thanks for the wonderful letter. I hope you came through the huricane unscathed.

Hdubious76, a card is on it's way to you tomorrow morning.
