Can anyone please explain why postcards from the states have a sticker across the writing on the back, and sometimes across the front? No other mail service that I have ever encountered defaces your mail that way.

Hi, I have noticed that too, but the sticker easily peels off leaving no residue. I have seen a fluoroscent bar code on the sticker so I guess it aids the USPS in automatic sorting.

Card sent out today to spottedandspeckled and some carsd to the regular correspondents. Thank you all.

Best,

Hari

I think Hari is right--see

Some mail must be reviewed by human eyes, but once that's done it gets a barcode label so that the machines can handle it's stay for the remaining duration of custody with the USPS (United States Postal Service).

Ok, just a quick break from paperwork to say that a lot of cards came in between Friday and Saturday! Some of you received cards hinting at what all the paperwork is for. ;)

In no order, and no comments only because it's 11:30pm and I have to read 40 more pages before bed and I must be up no later than 6am! There are really some awesome cards here too.

Woah! Thanks for the compliment Firefyter!

I've always loved writing just for the sake of it, but have been really working at developing my own style lately. Trying to devise an individual alphabet that is a cross between cursive/chancery italic, with a couple of letters that fit neither, but are just my own taste (small f, for example).

Am sending out more cards today. Look out everyone!

I received my ebay order of vintage postcards yesterday and I am working on getting cards out to AlaskanWriter, PaulK, and Hdubious76 now. I received 300 cards from the 50s and 60s from all over the country and only about 40-50 were used. Sooo I have plenty of cards to spare now if anyone wants one. Most of them won't be of Cleveland anymore but then again is that really so bad? ;)

AlaskaWriter, I do not remember what I sent you, but I am positive it was vintage (Pretty much all I buy) If you describe it, I may remember what it was. An easy clue would be a linen card (textured like cloth) those are from 1930-1945 for the most part.

I have to apologize, I received a TON of cards in the last couple of days and the last batch was mixed with all of the others and put away in my desk drawer with all of the other ones. I was able to mark the ones that came in so I know it, but because I forgot to set them aside, I only know that I have received a card from you, but not when! So there are three or four people I can not say thanks to, so to cover yours... Thank You!

Now, in the mail tomorrow will be:

Spotted & Speckled

CraigR

sdcurnow

PaulK

Tawanda

deauville

WennyPenny

While I am at it, let me highly suggest something. When sending out a card, include your FPN user name and the date. The user name makes it simple to know who sent it, and the date is so nice, just think 100 years from now and trying to read that post mark to see who sent it out before virtual pens were invented~!
