I've hahd many replies, which I'm very excited about, and I hope to get some cards out this week. But why are all my respondees boys? Not trying to put the boys off, honest)

It really puzzles me that the vast majority of threads here are also from the guys. Come on girls. Where are you?

Cheers

We're here.

There are some females on the previous page, too - maybe their avatars or handles aren't gender-specific.

Anyone wishing to have a postcard from a very cultural, historical, and diverse city may send my a PM by clicking on the link in my signature. I have sent postcards to 2 other members, one of them twice, and I am looking forward to getting post cards from all over the country, and world. Just shoot me a PM with your address and we can get started!

Stopping by the post office to send a card to pen2paper (before anyone goes and PM's her, it's not for the swap but for an ink example) and deauville. Sent one out to inkypete a day or so ago.

My mom is impressed by my stamp usage :) I think 10 in the past week!

And one big package of vintage 1970's postcards to the proper owners. I included a stamped postcard with my address and a three page letter to them. Maybe they will write back!

Hey...sucha a really nice surprise to receive unexpected cards from sdcurnow, ToasterPastry, and CraigR. Thank you to all: also really enjoyed that each seemed to have an "ocean-theme." I have return cards in the mail to each of you (all 'vintage' from my antique shop wanderings this past weekend).

My best,

Paul

Wonderful cards received from FredRydr, Kabe, Kent Frazier and Raiche58 received today.

I was starting to worry

The voice of this guitar of mine, at the awakening of the morning, wants to sing its joy;

I sing to your volcanoes, to your meadows and flowers, that are like mementos of the greatest of my loves;

If I am to die away from you, may they say I am sleeping, and bring me back home.

Ok... big update: Err..... big stack of cards in since the last time I had a chance to post. Ummmm.... big stack of cards back out in sporadic gasps as time and stamps permit.

I file them as they come in, and re-file as I respond, but I've lost track of which I've posted about, so to anyone who is wondering if there card arrived the reply is hitting the mail soon if it hasn't already. I would rather spend the time writing new cards than trying to sort things out, so I apologize if I'm leaving anyone hanging. I will likely continue this trend for now.

I know there are a few headed my way that have gotten lost in the system.... I'll be sending follow up cards when I get the chance. Hopefully mine have all made it - I admit to not having tracked arrivals via this thread. If my card never arrived please do PM me and I'll get a replacement out to you.

So, still active, and just printed up a couple of sets of "limited edition" photo cards. PM me if you want one or we haven't danced before.

For Canadian participants, I thought I would mention this: Canada Post has a line of post cards that include the cost of postage (pre-printed) anywhere in the world. The cost is $1.69 - or about 4 cents above international postage costs. There are some very nice cards, although they suffer the typical semi-glossy surface that makes ink drying take a while (I use a toaster oven :thumbup: if I'm in a hurry). Thought I'd mention it, as not all postal outlets seem to carry them or have them out on display.

This may be off topic for this thread, but I am curious how many people are interested in single time trades only, and how many continue trading with the same people? I've seen several newcomers ask that question, so I was just curious. Most of my exchanges are ongoing, with the occasional one that doesn't seem to carry through past the initial. Perhaps, a new thread would be in order for that topic though....

Off to apply stamps. Postcards coming through the mail to you soon.

Paul,

I have been wondering about this too. I always thought that the idea was to exchange once with many people. I use the letter exchange to keep in touch more regularly.

However, I see no harm in a continuing exchange - it must be fun for those who enjoy it. Perhaps each person might make it clear which he/she prefers as part of the message on the first card sent?

Just my two penn'orth.

Take care,

D.

I received cards from people that I've already swapped with, a very pleasant surprise! I think I'd continue the practice of continuing to send cards (if I don't receive a response, I'll discontinue, assuming that they're only interested in an initial swap).

It will be neat as we know a bit more about each other to see how the cards become more individualized.

I also like continuing to swap cards - if anything does not want to continue they may either let me know or just don't send another card. If I receive a card from you, I will return one.
