Postcard Swap

I have a couple of questions about our Post Card Swap -----

1. Are the post cards arriving in good condition? I'm just curious. The ones I've received have arrived in remarkably good condition. A few have been a little the worse for wear on one edge as if they may have hung up on the postal machinery, but this was minimal and nothing that damaged the picture or the message. Two or three unbacked photos have arrived in perfect condition.

2. When you signed up for the post card swap, were you under the impression that it would be a one-time swap or an on-going post card correspondence? I assumed it was to be a one-time thing and have been surprised and delighted to receive more than one card from some people, prompting me to send them a second card. I'm enjoying this so much, I don't mind if it becomes and on-going correspondence with some people. Of course, I'm happy to swap cards with those who only want a one-time swap. I understand that some may not have time for continual correspondence. Just wondering how the rest of you view the swap?

I viewed it as "one time" postcard swap. For ongoing correspondence I use paper and envelopes as I usually want to write more than would fit on a postcard. I've also had some trouble with smearing on some of the post-card stock, in one case even after sitting on my desk overnight.

Hi --

I haven't posted in here in a while, but I have been steadily jotting and mailing cards. I just wanted to thank everyone I've exchanged cards with so far -- if you haven't heard from me yet, you probably will ;) . Eventually, and when I find the right one, all the cards I've received will go into an album.

1. Are the post cards arriving in good condition?

Some of them look like something narrow and flat has caught them on the right side of the back and pulled up a layer of paper, but they weren't wrecked (and they're fixable with a little Zig glue).

2. When you signed up for the post card swap, were you under the impression that it would be a one-time swap or an on-going post card correspondence?

At some point, I'll probably start a second round. It's nice to get cards!

I don't mind to swap postcard more than once. To avoid problems, I send my postcard inside an envelope so that they arrive safely and in perfect condition. If someone has the urge to write more than the space allowed in the postcard, send me a letter with the postcard. I'll reply letters, postcard and any other piece of paper with something written on it.

I think it is part of the fun to get a beaten up postcard in the mail. Kind of like a messenger that arrives at the queen's throne just in time to deliver the news from the front before expiring due to the 7 arrows in his back. Noble messenger, shot at by various postal people. I would like to frame the really sad ones.

I never really thought about more than one card. I got a second card from Judybug and I'm sending one back. I love getting the different cards. I sent out three over the last two days, Shelley, Carrie and Coco. Thanks ALvaro for the Parliment building, very impressive. And Don, I love the Frank Lloyd Wright house.

I send 3 cards today (to Judybug, Margana and Millis) and have send one (to aavzgz) last week, which will probably arrive soon!

Hope they'll survive the trip!

I've received a bunch, and sent out a bunch. They know me well at my post office (because I'm always mailing things)--yesterday one of the postal workers mentioned to me that U.S. postage for postcards and letters is now the same rate (which I found of interest, anyway). Alejandro, I received your postcard yesterday (thank you), and I'm mailing one to you today.

I'm saving everyone's cards for a future wall mural over my desk.

I think I'm a one-time postcard sender, but I'll happily send seconds if I receive seconds. coco

I used PhotoPOSTOS. You stick them on the back of your photos like this:

http://www.photopostos.com/pages/cards/plain.jpg

The process isn't all that easy, and if you give it a try, I'd allow destroying a couple of photos before getting the hang of things.

Hi Doug,

These are a lot of fun and the process of applying a PhotoPOSTOS to your photo to make your custom postcard is actually very easy. Even if you'd never be caught at a gas station asking directions, reading the instructions on the products package insert or on the company's webste will make applying them to your photo a cinch without ruining another photo.

.......

This sounds endless fun. I'm in.

Hey! I don't know how I missed this thread until now, but I'd like to sign up for the postcard swap. I am in hot, sunny San Antonio, Texas.

I'm not clear on how we obtain names/addresses, though...
