Postcard Swap

This is a lot of fun. I'd like to know how you save your cards. I started out using a Clairefontaine album but getting too many now so probably go back to some type of storage box. I log each card in and out in an Apica notebook so I know which card I sent to whom and if I got one back. Anyone do anything else with their cards or record keeping that I might not have considered?

Ok, I received a wonderful card showing the Christ Church, Philadelphia, PA today. I'm having trouble reading the signature. So, who sent it to me?

Thanks

I have had several pen pals (letters) for years and got in the habit of making a 3x5 card for each person and recording when I receive a letter and when I send one out to them. This helps me avoid not answering a letter. Now that I have started on the postcard exchange, I am doing the same thing for all who send me a card. The post cards are kept in a file box with alphabetical dividers. Storage may become a problem after a few months. /Craig

You make a good point. So far I've just been enjoying this, and used the received cards as decoration on my wall at home. I try to reply to letters and cards I receive - especially the ones infected with question marks ;) - and send on an impulse too. I see how it's possible (and clearly will) miss sending some eventually, but try to enjoy and keep it "list free" for now. Have to think about this though... :hmm1:

I sent a bunch of cards ~week ago and have received cards from CraigR and Okami. Thank you, and thank you all for this great activity!

I've got so many cards flying around that I have stopped acknowledging them here - hope that nobody is offended that I am not doing that but there are too many.

And I send them on a whim too, at times. If I find a nice set I tend to send them on whether I have had a card back or not. Its just another fun way for me to use my pens.

I've received some great cards this week (some people know my weakness for trains). Cards came in this week from Hari317, InkyPete, FredRydr, Treehugger, PMorin, & Succubus. Return cards went in the mail this morning to each of you. I also sent an introductory card to Firefyter-Emt.

Enjoy! Steve C

Well I have received a bunch more in the last two days..

Roland (Tell Cleveland to cut back on the ink to stamp the card! It went THRU the card!)

Merzig (That was a cool card, I love old vintage things, even doorbells~) PS.. What is that ink, I am in love!

Pmorin (That nib looks like it is sweet and the Dumas is one of my favorite inks!)

PM Salty (Great card, and I love that ink.. It really is close to BSB)

Inkypete (Safe and sound from down under! What is that ink, it's a great blue shade.)

Now for a special treat, the following people get lucky. I received a small lot of cards on e-bay today and I have dated them from 1900 to 1920 or so based on the cards, the artwork and two cancled cards. One was mailed in 1908 and one in 1921. (One cent back then!) I was looking at the one from 1908 thinking that the card sent to to simply "North East Harbor, Maine" (I can not read the name, but no street or zipcode) was send before WWII, the Great Depression, why it was even mailed prior to WWI and probation.!

Bonus history in the headlines for the exact day this card out on June 12th 1908

"Lusitania crosses Atlantic in record 4 days 15 hours, New York City"

I won two other vintage lots, I hope some are as old as these. For those waiting, I hope to have them soon! It may be very worth the wait!

In the mail tomorrow:

PMorin (glad you waited now!)
