I'm interested, please PM me for my address.

I have some "modern" cards from New Zealand and Australia, as well as "vintage" ones from Europe. However, most of them haven't been written on nor posted before, and for the ones that have, I don't think I can find enough space to fit it another address. Please tell me if you have a preference, eg. scenery vs. sites/buildings, people vs. animals &c.

I've just had a look on our postal service's website, the only way to send a postcard is by air, International Economy is for letters only... Air mail spoils the joy one gets in discovering a letter/postcard in the mail box after a long wait.

While we don't have any "rules," and I have no official status, I usually take on the task of pointing out the following:

The usual protocol is that you look through this thread and identify someone with whom you would like to exchange cards. You PM that person and offer to PM your address. They PM you back with their address and you PM them back with your address.

That way you get to solicit postcards from whomever you choose based on whatever criteria you choose. Charm, wit, large supply of cards, charm, interesting location, owner of finer pens, someone with lots of ink, cute avatar, did I say charm?, inherited a post office full of stamps, etc. Maybe even charm.

 (charming smiley, no?)

Enjoy,

Andy

Ah, I see. :eureka: I waited "to be chosen" rather than "to choose" because I didn't know who is still active, and if they still want to take on new correspondents. Now I am going to go through the hundreds of posts in this thread, until my eyes are sore.

If you start with the newest posts and work your way backward in time (Einstein says it can be done) you should find folk who are willing to be active card-partners. I don't think anyone will turn you down even if it has been a long while since their last card.

Card enroute to fieryphoenix in New Zealand. (I'm wondering, Australia is referred to as "Down Under"... so what does that make New Zealand?... "Down Under And Over A Bit"?

Received postcards from Roger and Fred recently. Thanks!

Sending one off tomorrow to FieryPhoenix in my dream vacation place - New Zealand!

I picked up some nice notecards recently that are made from prints by local artists. I'll try to get some out soon. Between working full time and attending grad school, it really takes a bite out of your free time... ;-)

I've received postcards from Zoe, TINman, hari317 and FredRydr. Thank you.:D It looks like more are on their way.

I've sent out most of the cards and I'll send out the rest in the next two or three days.

I've forgotten to note the pen and the ink on the cards. They are all written with a Waterman Crusader in Waterman black. The pen has an extra-fine flexible nib, but on some cards it writes like a fine/medium with no flexibility because the ink just gushes out as the nib makes contact with the cards (mainly the modern ones), and on others it skips. :hmm1:

Fred, you have sent the cards to Australia, but they've made their way here just fine. B) I think this happens quite often and the Australian postal service is quite accustomed to it.

This is a conversation that I often have with a new acquaintance:

X: Where are you from?

I: New Zealand.

X: Oh, really? Which territory (of Australia) is it in?

I: Well...we used to be part of the colony of New South Wales until 1907...

Received a great vintage card of Melbourne, Victoria from Leanne today. Judging from the automobiles in the picture, I'd guess ca. 1960. But the most striking thing about the card is the outstanding calligraphy. I'm posting a scan here to share this with others.

Thank you Leanne! I hope you don't mind my sharing this.

Leanne,

Whoops! Boy, that's weird, 'cause I just checked my list and I have New Zealand at the end of your address, so my brain must have been a little too creative that day (geographically speaking). If it happens again, let me know.

I've received you card as well, the rocks are beautiful, thank you.

This is a rather inexperienced hand of mine that I have just started about a month ago, after caliken has kindly directed me to a most useful book, and there is still much to work on.

Thank you for posting the card, I didn't know they were still hand cancelling the mail.

Anyone living in Africa, Eastern Europe, Central Europe, Asia and South America? I'd love to do a postcard swap with you :) I live in Santa Cruz, California, USA (western United States). Sometimes, I live in Vancouver, Canada but 99% that your postcard will come from Santa Cruz since I am not going back to Vancouver in the next few months.
