... a real interesting treasure, like a palimpsest.

Sandy,

Now there's a word of the day! def. palimpsest

I recall reading about parchment and sheepskin being so expensive that it would often be scraped and reused, though oftentimes the underlying original writing and illustrations could not be entirely eliminated.

I'm glad you are enjoying the cards as much as I am!

Another OT bit of trivia: Director Jean-Jacques Annaud humbly called his movie version of Umberto Eco's, Name of the Rose a palimpsest rather than an adaptation. Great movie, by the way.

Good morning everyone,

I would like to be involved in the postcard swap. Anyone that would like to receive a postcard from Orange County area please PM me. I am going to be picking up some postcards this evening and would love to also receive some from anywhere. Also a question regarding the amounts, about how many postcards should I acquire to start?

Thank you,

L :happyberet:

...........And when you least expect it. You pull yet another card from Fred out of the box. Maniac indeed, but in a good way.

LOL! You can say that again, Doug!

Fred, be sure to tell your fellow pen club members Vegas Pens will be up and running with a full inventory...unfortunately not by December (I wish!), but someday! :D

FredRydr is a postcard sending maniac! OK, I feel better now. But I will not be out done -- one coming right back at you, Fred!

Fred,

Just got your other one in the mail yesterday. Thank you! Definitely when Vegas Pens opens, you'll be the first to receive an invitation. Right now it's just a concept in my mind, although I have a domain name and a Myspace page, but nothing is on either one yet. But it will be a reality someday! :D

To everyone that is going to be receiving a postcard from me,

So after looking at a few postcards available and keeping in my thoughts what I wanted to convey about the california coast, I have decided to make my own postcards to send out. I have one finished and will try to make them all in the next few days. I should have them completed by the weekend's end. I will PM each person as I finish and send them out. I hope that everyone likes them, I have never made postcards before and had a huge amount of fun this evening doing it. Now lets hope I can fill out the postcards with my pen properly and not mess up...

Have a great evening to all! :happyberet:

Don't worry about "messing up." A neat line drawn through a mistake is perfectly acceptable in my opinion. It's funny - now that I've given myself permission to mess up, I don't make as many mistakes as I used to.

Two postcards are going out today! I finished them late last night and will be making some more this evening. Thanks Judybug for the advice! I think they turned out well and luckily had no major mistakes... I technically made three postcards but the signifigant other that I love claimed the first card, she deserves it for putting up with me. Plus she did get me the pen for Christmas that I used for writing the cards so I could not say no. :D

Have a great Friday everyone!

...A neat line drawn through a mistake is perfectly acceptable....

I wish I could draw a neat line. It seems when I make a mistake, I try to fix it, which then leads to adding more ink which in turn renders the error completely unintelligible!

I'm leaving for Nova Scotia in two days, so unless there are unusual postcards there, the maniac is taking a ten-day sanity break. Which pen(s) to take... Hmmmm.

Evening Everyone,

I received so many post cards this last couple of days, it is like getting a special gift when you least expect it. Best of all, the cards really brighten up the worst of days! I wanted to say a huge thank you to "The Rocky Mountains", "The California Coast", "The Amish Family", "Louisiana's Old State Capitol", and once again the "Ansel Adams, Montana". This is the first time I have ever done a postcard swap. I am really addicted to this as some of you said would happen. Now that I have a week of making postcards under my belt, they should get better over time.

I also wanted to let everyone know that if you sent me a address up until yesterday then your postcard is in the mail.

Being new at this I was not sure about what to write, so lets just say I am a minimalist. :D

Warm regards,

L

Just a quick note to anyone who's sent me a PC lately: I have had gfamily visiting and have rather lost track of the 2-3 people from whom I've recently had PCs...I recall Cherry & Clancy (and another from Fred of course!)and snails from Succubus & Toulouse ...if I have missed anyone please PM me!

Otherwise I'll get around to y'all asap! It's forecast to be 38 degrees Celsius (100.4 F) here today so I won't be going far!
