Delightful picture of the California Redwoods arrived from Clancy this morning.

Thank you very much!

I remember wandering among those incredible trees some years ago. They were quiet unnerving as one went in deeper, and one's feet tread silently on the soft pine needles.

Also glad to see Noodler's La Coleur Royale.

Likewise, although I have never had the pleasure of walking among them.

If you make people think they're thinking, they'll love you; But if you really make them think, they'll hate you.

It's up to the mailguys and -girls now.

I have a tall stack of post cards that are only meant for ball points. They are beautiful cards, but fountain pen ink either feathers terribly or beads up and never dries.

This is true. Many of my post cards are from pre-ball-point days, but the paper has deteriorated such that it's like writing on toilet paper. Sometimes the paper is so soft that the tip digs right in. I manage somehow.

My view of postcards is that they are fun, especially the old ones, and the same way Fox news is MacNews or USA Today is MacPaper, my postcards are like MacLetterwriting. It keeps me writing even if not a full letter. And that's a good thing. And it maintains contact.

As to cost, I pick up cards at US$0.25 each, sometimes a little more if I really like one for the content. I sent three in a row to someone on this list recently in order to finish a thought, and didn't have the heart to put them in an envelope. They each got their own stamp just as they were supposed to! If the card is used and has period writing, I try to write around or between it. I'm a broad italic kinda guy, so I have to grab a fine point and control my enthusiasm in order to squeeze the letters in. :)

This one is of my high school alma mater, so it goes to a '71 classmate.

What a marvelous idea - "to be continued" post cards!!! You may have started something, Fred!

Clancy,

Thanks for the postcard of the redwood trees! We don't have that big trees here. You must feel pretty small when you walk among them?

Thanks again.

Oh, Judybug! The old State Capitol in Baton Rouge is gorgeous - thanks so much for the quick postcard. LOVE the shading on your Sheaffer Brown ink, it's probably my favorite brown. Beautiful handwriting, too. Thanks again.

I've been meaning to open this thread for months.

Guess I'd better stop and pick up some cards

before I start PMing folks.

I'll do just that and join the fun.

Along with the letters I send it'll be post cards

for my honey to drop off at the post office for me. :D

Shame they took the drop box out at the corner.

I received an interesting card from Lucas a/k/a Frederic in Belgium today! It seems his girlfriend is organizing an old school Vespa tour and they had postcards printed up to advertise it. The picture of the guy doing a wheelie on a Vespa is way cool! Thanks!

I just picked up a bunch of San Antonio postcards that are ready to travel! Lashelle

Frederic,

I am shocked, shocked* to learn I did not get one of those cards! But all is not lost, for I have just the card to pry one loose.

Hello Louie,

I understand your difficulties. However, I came home from a week in Aberdeen to find not one, but two fine postcards from you. Thanks for your efforts.

And anyone wanting a postcard from the Shetland Islands -- ponies, small dogs, cliff scenery, brochs, etc. a speciality -- send a PM and an address.

Regards,

Suggie

Cliff - love your N.O. postcard. Those old doors transport me to another time. I love architectural details. Thanks.

Thank you Clancy, for your card - those trees are indeed awesome.

I have some blank glossies on their way to me - I am going

to try my hand at making some with some of my nature photos.

As soon as they get here they will be on their way to those

that have been kind enough to PM me. :)
