I'm going to China this summer. Might be able to send people cards when over there. As well I need to see if I can visit the Hero pen company.

My thanks and great esteem for sending me a stunning vintage postcard of the old Atlantic City rainbow fountain.

If only I could read the signature (snigger)!

I got one, too, thanks Steve :)

And a nice new one from Lashelle in San Antonio, thanks.....I am surprised you could write on that shiny surface! Doh... I just spotted what you did...put the shiny tape over the writing :D

Hey, look. I'm working on that. The italic nibs force me to have legible handwriting, but I want to play with my flexies!

The shiny tape is to protect the not so waterproof ink so maybe the card will get to where it is supposed to go. Unfortunately the tape does not improve my handwriting.

Two posties arrived today  .

One from 'ernestheming' in Austalia, a beautiful picture of Lake Wendouree in the Victorian Goldfields country. Thanks Hernan!

Also, another vintage postie from 'fredrydr' in Pennsylvania. This one's a reproduction of a painting of General Lafayette. The postcard is actually an old promo for the Lafayette Charcoal Steak and Seafood House in Williamsburg, Virginia. Thanks Fred!!

Been out of circulation for over two weeks. Went on a vacation with my daughter and her family to WDW in Florida. Chasing two grandkids around the parks is exhausting! :headsmack: Went with great intentions of sending out some Post Cards but I barely got cards out to my other grandkids (who happened to go to the same place several weeks before) let alone the Mother's day cards I had to get out.

But I had two Post Cards awaiting me when we got home! Thanks to Fred and Roger for the wonderful cards! Fred I have had New York wine and sparkling wine!

I have some Post Cards left from WDW and the KSC (Kennedy Space Center) I will probably use them for a while. Any takers?

Some of you may have noticed that prior use doesn't stop these cards. Old stamps and franks make the vintage cards even more fun. The best one so far was a Soviet-era card with large CCCP postage stamps and Cyrillic printing.

Yet another outstanding vintage card from 'luckygandson' arrived today! This old black and white photo (actually a sepia) is of an old Spanish sugar mill built in 1563 in Ponce de Leon Springs, Florida.

Thank you Steve.

These old vintage cards are great fun...very interesting. I've just dug out a box with a collection that my dad passed along to me and will start sending some of them out. Almost all of them are early 20th century, pre '30s. The colorization in these old cards is quite fantastic. The cards are from Washington DC, New York City, Panama, Peru and some great old black and white cards from France, post WW I.

Any stamp Collectors out there.

At the moment the Royal Mail is issuing a series of special stamps based on the UK's Cathedrals, including the 56p Cost a sending a postcard stamp, which has an image of St.Davids Cathedral.

Would Anyone like a postcard with this stamp on it?

Information on the Issue

Information on the Stamp:

56p – St Davids

St David's cathedral occupies the site of the saint's monastery at the most westerly point in the British Isles in Pembrokeshire, Wales. A monastic community was created by the Saint at this site as early as AD 645. After St David’s death, the shrine became increasingly important so that in 1081 even William the Conqueror himself felt compelled to visit. The present structure was begun in 1181, and seemed doomed. It was damaged by structural failure, hit by an earthquake and finally left so ruinous by the Civil War that restoration took centuries. In fact it was only in the run up to the millennium that the cathedral was truly restored and was able to take its rightful place as a vibrant spiritual, and musical, centre.

Also there is a special issue of the 81p international postage stamp, so any one who is expecting a letter can look forward to the view of St Magnus!

Received a postie today from Rakim. The card is from Norwich and is a photograph of the statue of Lord Nelson.

Thanks very much Vipul.

I couldn't help it. The local antiques mall has a vendor with many thousands of postcards, most in a disorganized mess which keeps the price down. I picked up 60 vintage cards from anywhere and everywhere at only 25 cents each.

So....look out!

I'd like to join in on this. How does it work? I

sent a PM the other day to the thread originator but have received no reply.

I'd like to get my name on the list. I'm in Denver, CO and would be interested in trading postcards with anybody, regardless of location. I have three kids (13, 8 and 6) and I think they would find it fun as well to get post cards from all over the country. Plus, I'm looking for an excuse to use my pens more. I would most likely be sending out picture postcards of the amazing natural beauty we have here in CO.

Whoever is keeping the list, please add me to it. Also, if anybody wants to send one before I get on the list feel free to PM for an address.

Keep trying. Send some PMs to folks from the more current posts in the thread, like me. Except I've beat you to it and already sent you a PM. Lots of folks here willing to exchange cards.

Thanks for posting to the postcard swap!

cheers
