Rec'd. card from FredRydr yesterday, from Carlisle, PA. This one's a photo of one of Pennsylvania's many historic covered bridges.

Thanks Fred.

P.S. love that Havana brown ink!

Thanks Fred for the vintage card from PA. Oldest card + oldest pen so far (Morrison).

The Havanna brown is dark, but so is my brown on a postcard. The paper and gloss really makes a difference on the colors, huh?

Am I doing it wrongly?....I am responding to the cards I get with another card (until my correspondents stop sending 'em!)...I didn't see much point in putting the "I gots" & "I sents" on here ???

The igots and isents are just a bit of fun. You don't have to post those if you don't want to. :)

I have lots of cards coming in from around the globe. Thank you all.

Yes, I really like that Havana brown and the way it shades into different hues. It goes well with the old cards. One of our prolific ink reviewers is guiding this relative newbie in a search for a blue-black that does the same thing.

When I was at Bertram's Baltimore today, I picked up two dozen B&W photo cards of the gothic skyscraper that Bertram's occupies(occupied as of Sunday). These were done in 1948 & 1950 by A. Aubrey Bodine, a photographer of some note, and "signed." If anyone wants one, drop me another PM or post card - until these run out.

I just went to the U. S. Postal Service website and found that since the recent rate hike, post card (no larger than 6 in. x 4.25 in.) postage is 26 cents instead of 24 cents. Does anyone know what the post card rate is to other countries? This info used to be easy to find on usps.com, but I just tried and can't get to the international charts.

Judybug

This has probably been answered, but I didn't want to go through the 28 pages to find out. It's not leisurely enough.

I just came from the USPS and the rates for postcards outside of the USA are the same as for a one ounce letter - Canada and Mexico; 69 cents, the rest of the world; 90 cents. The stamps have to have a denomination printed on them. No forever stamps, I guess. And they do have 69 and 90 cent stamps, but any combination adding up to the rate is fine.

Pease add ash13brook from the Chicago, Illinois, USA area to the list.

Picture postcards of Chicago or just plain if you like. None will have the "forever stamp" on them

thanks,

It occurred to me later that these posts serve to advise new readers that these correspondents are 'active' and hence could be approached for possible exchanges.

So, I have recently, or fairly recently, received interesting cards from:

judybug,

akaLouie,

casmiUK,

KingJoe,

Tweel,

pmsalty,

amh210,

FredRydr

and sdcurnow

plus a very nice letter from Toulouse.

Thanks to them all and I think I have responded to all. :)

If any are puzzled by getting their cards with UK stamps, I often send them by an overnight courier service to UK, where they are sent-on via Royal Mail. The Spanish mail system is rather unreliable!

I've used Avery labels before and the templates they provide online are really nice.

Hey, I was thinking (uh oh!). Instead of printing a picture on the front, can we just write on it? Then use the other side for more text as well as the address? Okay, I guess a picture is important to a postcard, but there really isn't much space on the back for more than "hllo wsh you wr here."

I hit the "antique mall" near me today. Ten years ago, they were three floors solid of quality antiques. Today, one floor of quality thrift shop items, a thrift clothing store, a used book store... meh. A case of trying to do too many things when the one was the way to go. And not one fountain pen in sight. However, I did pick up a big ziplock bag full of old postcards. I was thinking I paid way too much for them - $20 for about 40-50 cards. Then I looked up one of the cards on the 'net - and it was selling for $12.95. Ok, maybe I got a decent deal after all. Most of them are touristy cards from the coastal regions and Canada, circa 1969 to 1971 it appears, but almost all of them are worthy of a stamp to another FPNer. So, I guess I'd better get to PM-ing.

Yes, that's what I want to know - are they FP friendly? If so, I think this is a real deal! $15.95 for 100 postcards that you can print your own photo on is pretty good. I have my own method of making postcards from photos I've taken; but the process is a bit time-consuming, and I'm sure it costs me more than this to make mine.

Has anybody tried these?

I have some thin photo paper...I might just paste some nice notepaper on the back!

All I then need is some photos of other than of my grandchildren and pets!
