Postcard Swap

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else, like me, enjoy receiving 'real' mail from all over the world? There are such a variety of members here that I thought it would be interesting to swap postcards of our town which have been written with a fountain pen. You could include details about the pen and ink you are using on the card, or just a general message about your hometown!

Yes, count me in! I only just discovered this thread.

I am in Carlisle, Pennsylvania USA:

- shelled by rebels before being drawn towards Gettysburg

- Hessian guardhouse

- Indian school

Or I can send odd cards I pick up on my travels but never seem to mail.

So is there a link to a list or instructions? I suppose I should scan the preceding 26 pages for one.

Fred,

Send a pm and exchange addresses with someone on the thread.

Received PC from Stuart (England) yesterday and one today from finalidid today. Great cards! :clap1: Sent one to rogerbob this morning.

Done! I need to scavenge for better postcards of Carlisle than the ones I've seen so far. I might get some vintage cards if I'm lucky.

I have a handful of Postcards that need new homes. Anyone interested?

This will come from Dixon, CA...in the farmland west of Sacramento.

I'm new to the "list", so just send a PM.

Hmm, I am new to this forum, and I don`t know anyone here, so, what better way to meet people... If anyone is interested in exchanging postcards with someone from Atlantic Canada (that would be me!), PM me and we can exchange snail mail addresses.

Looking forward to my cards, thanks! So far I've sent (I think) seven, one each to all who wrote. I've received a nice one depicting LA, one from more Northern California, and one from NYC.

Also Tulane University sent me a picture of verdant Audubon Park ablaze in blooming glory, the fountain bubbling, the trees all bright green. It is captioned, "Winter Term." Har, someone in the admissions office has a sense of humor.

Rec'd. postcard from 'finalidid' in New Orleans. This card is a beautiful reproduction of a vintage, tinted engraving depicting a balcony view of the French Quarter (circa 1940). Really lovely. Thanks Cliff.

I sent off several, most of them vintage cards, a couple even have old stamps on them.

One of you is getting a real old card, and the paper was almost impossible to write on. The nib's tip would plow up fibers from the paper surface, no matter how light my touch was. I finally gave up and sent a second one, too. :-)

Someone got around the problem of fine nibs and less-than-wonderful card quality by writing on a nice piece of paper, cut to size and sticking it on!

Most of my pens seem to work with most of the cards I get here.

As expected, New Orleans has great picture post cards. Thanks Cliff, for the shotgun house photo with fine handwriting, too.

I got a great vintage card from FredRydr today. (That was FAST! I highly doubt the mail out of the Denver metro area was as good.)

Thanks, Fred!

TheTimeTraveller is no more... Long live Rincewind!

Just a note to say that from today onward I'll be using the user name of Rincewind (the legendary Wizzard from Terry Pratchett's 'Discworld' novels) instead of 'TheTimeTraveller', and a new avatar accordingly.

Needless to say, Rincewind also welcomes postcards!

Thanks for reading,
