I'd send out a few postcards from beautiful New Orleans if people wanted them. But I'm not quite sure how this system works. Is there a method to this madness?

Yes, Cliff, you just PM the person with whom you like to swop cards and, if they agree, you swop snail addresses.

And that's all there is to it :)

I've received responses via PM from two people already. I'll be sending them postcards, and the next five people or so who PM me, too. Fun fun! :)

You're welcome and thanks again for the card from my long ago hometown!

My aged mother says she remembers going to the stationery store as a little girl with her father in San Antonio and buying FPs (my grandfather really liked them)... so it was great fun for me to write a card from Virginia with a pen that came from your neighborhood in the 1930s!

What goes around comes around, eh?

Seems to me, from this page, that the post-card rate within the US currently is only .26 cents. Is that right? Seems awfully low. A letter is right now .41 cents, and will go up to .43 soon. Am I correct?

I have to admit I didn't check your link, but that's right. A domestic postcard is 26¢ (unless it's bigger than 4-1/2x6, in which case it's 41¢), postcards to Canada and Mexico are 69¢, and all other international destinations are 90¢. -- And the first ounce for a first-class letter (domestic) is 41¢; additional ounces are 17¢.

People complain every time postage goes up, but I still think it's an incredible deal for having a message hand-delivered within a couple of days to any point in a continent-spanning nation!

That sounds a pretty good deal to me....I send most of my mail via UK (that's why those of you I've sent-to had UK stamps!), because the Spanish post is still somewhat unreliable.

I pay Euros 0.90 that way (about $1.35?), and I think Spanish post would be about USD$0.90, ie about the same as you pay in the USA.

I had a letter sent to my residential address from the UK, with a typed, completely accurate address which took THREE MONTHS to arrive (but, unlike some, it did, eventually arrive) :o

To alleviate this, I rent a private POBox, for c.$150/year...the owner goes daily to the local post office himself to collect mail, and he also signs for packages, pays import taxes, etc, all of which saves lots of delays. Well worth the money, IMO.

But one can't have everything...the sun shines, the people are friendly and the wine is good and cheap :D

I think I'd pay a lot of money to have some of my mail NOT delivered in a timely manner ... :)

I have a supply of PCs looking for interested recipients.... I was prepared for a continuing exchange with my earlier correspondents, but they appeared satisfied with one (in most cases).....maybe i should check my deodorant :)

A veritable postcard bonanza today! Rec'd. two cards from Succubus in NYC. Not just two regular ol' postcards, but two jumbo (8 3/4" x 5 1/2") cards from the American Museum of Natural History! Both are pics of the T-Rex skeleton in different positions.

Very menacing  , very cool.

Thanks Lani.

Sent off card to 'finalidid' in NOLA.

Well I don't have any answers regarding your deodorant situation  but I'd like to take another postcard off of your hands if that's okay.

OK, but you'll have to forgive me if I repeat myself...I'm trying to keep track of which cards I've sent to whom, but not what I wrote on them!! I'll settle for some different ink!

I've said on it 'I hope you have a happy Easter, if you celebrate this event' or words to that effect(as I don't know your 'religious persuasion'!), but you will not get the card until it's past, so amend that to "have had"!
