Postcard Swap

. . . One question ... How does one keep the ink on the cards from being ruined by the Post Office?

Susan & Todd

The post cards I've received have arrived in remarkably could condition. If you're worried about moisture causing ink to smear, you can put clear tape over your writing. I have some stuff called MicroGlaze that I just can't do without. You can rub a light film of it on your writing and it makes it water-proof. I've tested it - water just beads up on it. It's $8.50 for a small jar which I thought was expensive when I ordered it. But it really lasts a long time. Take a look at it here

I have a white votive candle that I rub over the text. Unlit, that is. This coats the paper with clear wax.

Rapt, there is no "list." All you need to do is pick one or more folk who post on this thread, send them a PM with an offer to exchange post cards. Most often they will say yes and send you their mailing address and you send them your mailing address and then you exchange cards.

Most of us prefer not to have our physical address appear in public posts.

Understood. :) The "road" comment is a relative thing. I grew up in the town where andru is. But its still an hour's drive.

Received two cards today - Thank you KingJoe!

Going card shopping today and will send out our promised cards on Monday. The cards we had were NOT fp friendly. It was like trying to write on plastic wrap!

And thanks to all who suggested ways of protecting the ink. I think I'll give each method a try and see which works best for me.

Isn't it maddening! I have a stack of beautiful post cards, but the paper is not fit for gel pens or roller balls much less fountain pens. I guess they are strictly meant for ball points. I do have some cards that work well with FPs, but I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that probably two thirds of the cards I've bought are terrible.

Today I mailed cards to TheTimeTraveler and to OrchidUnicorn. :)

I recommend vintage pcs that are fp friendly. They are also rubber stamp friendly, so you can alter or gussy them up.

Or you can make your own. Here's one i made last year - the image is a cut out from a magazine.

Cheers, J

I think I can help you out with something along those lines from the Bluegrass. I'll see what I've got and get another card or two headed your way.

Your card arrived safely, BTW. Thank you! GORGEOUS!! ;)

Received two cards today, one from Celeste and one from Clancy. Both are really interesting. This is so much fun. Celeste I have indeed been to the diner in Albequerque. Clancy, I have always wanted to see a redwood up close. Love the cards! Lashelle
