Postcard Swap

Simply post that you want to exchange postcards; say a litlle about where you are from and perhaps the subject of the cards you will send, and ask interested members to message you. Easy.

Sounds good. I'd love to play. I'm from an area in the southern half of British Columbia called the Okanagan. It's an area known for its orchards, vineyards, and Lake Okanagan, where there is rumored to be a lake monster named Ogopogo. In the heyday of the apple and fruit orchards, each orchard had their own crate labels. I have turned several of those crate labels into postcards (I work in a print shop and have access to all the equipment I need to make my own). I also have a lot of local postcards, if anyone is interested.

For those of us too lazy to read through 143 pages, how does the exchange work?

Just posting your interest in the thread is only one-half of what you need to do. The second step is to work your way backwards in the thread and send a PM to those who are participating, offering to swap postcards and providing your mailing address and asking for theirs.

If you just post in the thread, it'll take forever to get started, waiting for someone to send a PM to you since you're at the bottom of the thread! It is incumbent upon the newly arrived to this thread to send his/her PM to those who went before in the thread.

The further back you go in the thread, the less likely you'll get a response. It is reasonable to get about a 25% response going back a year or two in my experience. Most of 2016 wasn't particularly active, and now in the past few days, interest has picked up.

Typically swappers will note the pen and ink used on the card.

Also see https://www.postcrossing.com for an excellent if not fountain-pen-oriented postcard swapping site.

I'm new to the forum and would like to give this a try. If you PM your address I'll send a postcard from Minnesota (USA) and I'll PM my address so you can send a postcard back.

I'll also work my way back through the list from here (i.e., this post) and contact folks who've already offered to swap.

Postcards I receive will be shared with my wife (with the exception of slimy snake postcards) and/or with our cat (with the exception of smelly dog postcards).

Regards,

Gary

Good thing I don't have any slimy snake postcards... might have just the card for your cat, though. ;)

I can arrange for smelly cat postcards. I'll place a few in the cat's bed in the breezeway.

Hi,

I am Mihir from India. I would love to exchange postcards. I would be most probably sending anyone interested postcards of my own photographs taken on the streets of Bombay.

OK, I have contacted a couple of people, but thought I would post my interest here, too, just in case anyone else is interested in swapping with someone in Scotland.

I have a few vintage postcards that really need to be used. I live in the twilight zone (home of Rod Serling that is), and would enjoy sending them out. Send a PM. Scotland and points east would be ok too :)

I have a ton of postcards begging to be mailed somewhere. It's been a while since I participated in the postcard swap.
