Postcard Swap

I do not collect stamps, but I've discovered NOS vintage postage for postcards! Way cool! :P

Fred

Fred - I love the "pre-owned" cards you send. I'll swear, if I had the time, I could write a short story around each one of them. The cryptic messages are great writers' prompts! BTW - I'm putting a card in the mail to you today.

I get my vintage stamps on eBay....

 Me too. I have enough, now. Search eBay for "postage" lots. Remember that postage rates used to be much lower, and you can easily end up with many stamps with small denominations if you buy in lots. You may need to buy some modern stamps to supplement the old stamps, or you will end up covering the entire back of the postcard!

By the way, I've been using two modern first-class stamps without a denomination on them (many countries are now doing this) for international post, plus a small denomination stamp. I wonder if the post offices will see this as a problem?

I would like to be included in the Post Card exchange please.

Bisquitlips is in Missouri but travels extensively so you may get a post card from just about anywhere.

Please add me to the list.

Thanks!

I do that all the time. I don't think it's a problem as long as the correct postage is there.

Hi, folks! My name is Ricardo, from Peru, 38 years old, married (I wonder if I've updated my profile) and until recently I have resumed my interest in fountain pens. I like writing (duh!) and would be great if I could participate in this.

Please, PM me if you'd like a card from Peru

Just discovered that I can make my own Postcards on Zazzle! Sweet! And they are quite reasonable!

So no more endless searching for nice postcards from my travels. Will just make them from my photographs!

You gotta love the internet!

Ooh! A postcard swap. I'm smack dab in Oklahoma, but right now, I'm in Raleigh, NC.

I read a bit through the few first pages; I think I'm doing this right. PM me if you'd like a postcard from North Carolina!

I would be interested in receiving postcards from anywhere outside the continental United States. I like getting mail with foreign postmarks. What can I say? PM me if you would be interested in getting a postcard from the Lone Star State.

Happily sliding down the slippery slope of fountain pen acquisition disorder.

This thread needs a bit of excitement. I emptied an entire rotating postcard rack of vintage postcards from the region of the Molly McGuires in east-central Pennsylvania (coal country). If you'd like one, send me a PM with your mailing address. I will reply with mine.

PM me if you're interested in getting a postcard from Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, "the most Cajun place on earth".

I would love to get postcards from anywhere at all.

I just found a stash of Mark Ryden postcards I forgot I had. PM me if you want one and mention Mark Ryden, or you'll get a generic "Hello from my hometown!" postcard. :roflmho:

All,

My apologies for being so tardy on my replies.

I took a nasty fall and have been recuperating slowly. Not much in the mood for writing, but thought I would stop by and explain myself.

Will write back soon.

If anyone wishes to exchange postcards with me, send a PM with your address, and I shall reply with mine. I mail vintage cards and odd/unusual cards, and I use vintage postage stamps where possible.

Has anyone else noticed how participation has dwindled on this, the postcard swap thread? If you go back two pages, you've gone back two years! We need a new strategy to keep participant information fresh and easily accessible, because this thread is too topheavy with former (i.e., non-) participants. New people to the swap are discouraged because they don't want to wade through 2,500 posts on this list to find those who are participating.

Ideas?

I was thinking this, too. I myself only skimmed through the most recent couple of pages. Maybe it should be kept to a certain # of pages, 5 or 10? And when another page is added, the oldest one drops off? :eureka:
