I would enjoy this. How do I sign up? And does anyone want an old postcard? I have some christmas and birthday cards that are as much as 100 years old. I'd be glad to share. They are used, so I would put them in an envelope. It's fascinating to see the little sagas that are told.

Greetings and welcome to the FPN. Look at the first page of this thread, second post... many names there of those who would like to receive cards. Then send to whomever a PM (personal message) seeing if that person would like to exchange cards & give your address. It's not recommended to give your address in the open thread.

Enjoy.

While driving from FL to NY yesterday, I stopped at famous-yet-cheesy "South of the Border" and stocked up on postcards. Anyone who wants one sent to them, please let me know.

South of the Border is an attraction/rest stop/campgroud/amusement park that is located on I-95, on the border of North Carolina and South Carolina, hence the name. :P

Isa,

The easiest way to do this is to pick someone from this thread and send them a Private Message (PM) offering to swap cards and providing your mailing address. Just about anyone you pick will be glad to send you a card and look forward to getting one back from you.

I've already sent you a PM offerring to swap and my address.

Received another from Clancy - thanks! I like the snarky ones!

(Sorry for the late reply - my sister actually works in the station where I keep my post office box, and "helps me" by taking my mail when it comes. But she carries my mail around with her, or loses it in her apartment, for weeks at time. I've had to stop using that address for bills because of it!)

I was doing a bit of cleaning and noticed that over the past year I have accumulated a pile of postcards from FPN pc exchangers. I want to thank each and every one of you and express my pleasure!

I don't know if I have every single one in the pile, but I do want to re-enjoy the 16 postcards. I know I am two behind in sending cards (I need to go shopping), but thank you to:

  • Colleen for the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in Colorado
  • Debbie for South of the Border in South Carolina
  • Celeste for Sandia Park, New Mexico
  • Judybug for the Old Capitol Building in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
  • Jacky for the San Antonio Riverwalk in Texas
  • Liz for Auckland Harbor in New Zealand
  • Don for the aerial view of Buffalo, NY (with no snow)
  • Brian for the Tippecanoe County Courthouse in Lafayette, Indiana
  • Celeste for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico
  • Sandra for the Lethbridge railroad bridge in Alberta, Canada
  • Charlie for beautiful Nantwich in Cheshire in England
and then there are a few that I can't read the signature (post office overprinting, mostly) and I'm too lazy to look up
  • The Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat
  • Muzeul Satului in Bucharest
  • The Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest
  • The Obelisk in Buenos Aries
There have been others as well, but they must be in a different pile somewhere.

Again, thank you very much. I haven't bought a new pen in 7 months so if it wasn't for the postcards and a few snails, I'd have nothing to see in the mail besides the bills and magazines.

Best wishes to all for a wonderful 2008!

I'm so glad I ordered an official post card album when we started this swap last summer. The album will hold 100 cards. I have 65 so far. The album has an honored place on my coffee table and is enjoyed by all who turn it's pages. Thanks to all of you! :)

Post cards are such fun. When I went to Russia some 8 or 9 years ago, I sent myself post cards back home. I beat them home, but I like having those types of memories hanging around.

I'm in the Denver, Colorado area. If you'd like something from around here, PM me. I'm happy to oblige.

Judybug,

Tell me about your "official" postcard album. From where did you get it and what's "official" about it? Sounds interesting as I'm beginning to accumulate a nice collection myself.

Hi,

If it is not too late. I would like to join.

Just a quick introduction. I live in Sydney, Australia. Unfortunately, I've just used up my Japanese postcards I got when I was back in Japan (yes...usually I pick up bunch of Japanese cards!) , so my first cards will be Australian one, but hope to pick up some japanese cards when I have chance to.

Check it out here http://www.the2buds.com/sualbpc.htm The album is loose leaf. It comes in several colors. I got the red. By "official," I meant it has "Post Card Album" on the front in big letters. The clear plastic pocket-pages that hold the cards have to be purchased separately. Each page holds two cards - regular size or the big post cards. Seems like the album and the pages amounted to about $30-some when I bought them, but they must be on sale now. The album is listed for $9.95 and 50 pocket pages are $9.95. Anyway, I'm glad I made the investment because if I hadn't, I know I'd have postcards in a heap somewhere. Of course, if you already have a nice three ring binder, you could just order the pocket pages.

Ray, Rosmarin, and others......

The easiest way to get started in the FPN postcard swap is to pick someone or someones from the thread, PM them and offer to swap cards. If you get assent, exchange addresses and get busy writing and mailing!

Enjoy,
