Are you in the USA? My local stationer charges $12 for a large (2 oz.?) bottle of Quink and I've seen it around $10 online, this is solidly in the "regular price" bracket for ink from a respected maker.

...also, there was a period in 2019-2020 where some people were reporting SITB (Slime In The Bottle) infections in some Monteverde inks. I got a bad bottle of the Olivine, which smelled sulphurous, like hard boiled eggs gone bad, but it didn't have a mat of goop at the bottom of the bottle like some infections I've seen, so sniff test any Monteverde inks you get before use.

SITB  aside, I like the Monteverde inks I've used.

Greece, 2oz parker bottled ink is around 7,90 euros. Thats the cheapest volume to price ink you are going to find there. I thing cheaper are then pelikan 4001 in some occasions.

One of my favorite features of the Diamine line is the fact that all the regular line colors are available in 30ml bottles, which can be had from Cult Pens in the UK for about $2 each. I don't know what shipping and import duty add to that price for you, but that could be a cheap way to try a bunch of colors without spending too much.

After all, the best way to know if you like the color and writing characteristics of an ink is to use it in your pens.

EDIT

Looks like priced have gone up since the last time I checked... now $2.81US (no VAT) or €3.24 within the EU. 🙁

In my country the price for both 30ml and the 80ml is quite good and that was one of the reasons I would buy them.
