Sharing some pics of my Ranga  Designer pen. It’s no 7 design in P2 ebonite material. I chose a two tone Ranga steel BB nib unit and a custom clip.

the cap takes three quarters of a turn to come off which is a nice feature. The nib writes quite well. It has difficult ink in it.

Nice pen! A question about the ink- do you find that it clogs? Where did you buy it from?

Thank you. The ink does not clog. It flows excellent in some pens and poorly in others. It’s the best shade of blue in a really permanent ink. I bought it off Tata Cliq online.

Yeah, I like the shade too, and permanence is always a plus, but I have heard horror stories of it clogging pens and being very difficult to clean, hence I decided not to buy it.

My experience is that it is very easy to clean and does not stain. In fact my Gama transparent ED a few posts down is filled with the same ink. People who give opinion on the internet don’t necessarily have to have any experience. Most replies are just opinions and guess work. So you have to sift the chaff out. Good luck

Nice Ranga there 👍 That BB nib seems worth trying. Although I have some variety in pens the nibs they have are either fine or medium. It's only recently that I have started to lean more towards juicy nibs.

Is the Ranga nib and housing made by Kanwrite? I wonder if I could use the many spare Kanwrite Desire nib units I own in a pen such as yours.

Yes, ranga does source their nibs from Kanwrite (for the ranga nibs, that is), and I do believe it's the same nib unit as the desire. I do not have one to attest to that... But initial inspection and experience from my airmail 71 duos does make me believe the nib unit is interchangeable from the desire's(can @hari317 confirm that for us, please?). If not, well, you can simply slide out the feed and nib and put it in the ranga nib unit and it'll slide in like a glove...

The Ranga nib unit is directly interchangeable with JoWo #6 nib units.

The Designer pen and the Bamboo are a nice trend in pens from Ranga. I hope they will come with more pens with innovative forms.😏

One question, have you ever had an issue with hard-starts or baby's bottom with your BB nibs? I ordered a No.35 B and a BB from Kanwrite, and both those nibs had a moderate baby's bottom to it... Though I was able to polish it out relatively quickly..

Yes. With some even from Pelikan  it happens.

Very nice Hari, I've several times been tempted by the Ranga Designer but have not made up my mind yet as I don't quite understand what size it is.

Could you possibly take a picture next to a few know size pens? (a Ranga 3 or 4 woud be a nice comparison, particularly the sections, but also other well know pens would do, I'll leave it up to you).

Thanks!

That BB in your pictures really looks good, It's probably what I will choose if I go for this pen! thanks for showing it in such nice detail.

It’s actually same size as Regular Bamboo. 16mm diameter. 15cm long. Giant bamboo then regular bamboo then thin bamboo. I will take a pic with some pens this weekend and post.

one more question, you mean that the Ranga nibs (made by Kanwrite) come in a Jowo threaded collar?

ah, that's interesting (I do have one regular bamboo)! I was afraid it might be too big. Looking forward to your picture when you have time, thanks.

Ranga nib units are threaded in. The housing is dimensionally identical to JoWo so you can screw in a JoWo no 6 if you wanted.
