Onoto The Pen No.50 Made in Australia

Hey everyone,

I have been searching antique shops for the longest time hoping to find a fountain pen when I stumbled across this beauty today.

Can anyone give me some insight into this pen? Also, the lever won’t open and I don’t want to be forceful with it - do you think a reputable fountain pen store (specialising in pens and penmanship) could repair or get it functional?

Thank you!

Stacey

That sure is a good looking pen. Your pen is from circa 1952-53, according to the book "Onoto The Pen" by Stephen Hull.

The lever is probably blocked by a rotten rubber sack in the barrel so it is good that you did not force it. Repair of your pen should be straightforward for a knowledgeable repair person. You can inquire at your local pen store but in general they do not bother about these vintage pens. You could try finding a local repairer by inquiring with local pen clubs or trustable sellers of vintage pens in your region of the world.

Hey joss

That’s very helpful, thank you so much!
I’ll do that - fingers crossed! I’d love to be able to get it writing again 🤞🏼💙
