@kaisede Congratulations! That’s very nice, especially for those who find 149 Calligraphy a bit too big. Or someone who loves 149 Calligraphy so much that they have to have a 146 of the same thing too 😀! Use it in good health and good time!

P.S. Would you mind showing the box/packaging of your 146 Calligraphy please? Just curious how it looks compared to the 149C. It’s not available here yet. I would be keen to try it out in the shop.

Congratulations and thanks for this information.

Now I would be very much looking forward to pictures of this very interesting pen…

Hi Como,

I like the 149C box more than the 146 box. The 146 box is square and flat, nothing special about it.

Hi Jchch1950,

I like this version of 146 flex better than the Gold Leaf edition because when writing with no pressure it is finer than the Gold Leaf nib. On the other topic, the mod mentioned that the Gold Leaf edition's flex nib was modified with M nib instead of extra fine. I agree with the mod. If you like the 149C, I think you will be happy with this one.

thanks,

Andy

Hi meiers,

Please see the writing sample.  The left is the 146 flex with MB Elixir blue and the right is 149 flex with heart of darkness ink. The MB Elixir ink is dryer than the Noodler ink. The paper is Tomoe River. From the feel of the nib I think the 149 can be

more flex due to its larger nib. The 146 does have finer line without any pressure.

kaisede, this is a tremendously useful information, and I very like that MB made available its extraordinary EF flexible nub also to the many users of the 146. It is a great pen, and deserved the honor of a Calligraphy nib.

Thank you for sharing the news with us.

kaisede, thank you, for sharing this great news and the photos with us.

I'm sure many people, myself included, have been waiting to see the calligraphy nib on models other than the 149, which many people find to be too girthy, and prohibitively expensive LE models for some time now, not least due to Franco's excellent showcasing of the potential of this nib in his Calligrpahy 149 thread.

The new red calligraphy solitaire had been a good omen in that regard already, and seeing this nib on a "regular" resin 146 might tip the scales for those who had previously been on the fence but did not wanna go for a 149.

As the LeGrand Resin Calligraphy was not listed on any of the European MB websites, I just called their customer service to check availability on this side of the Atlantic.

The cs rep did not immediately know which model I was talking about, but as usual service was great and kaisede's link and the information from the US online shop clarified this quickly.

There's good news and bad news.

The bad news is he told me that the LeGrand Resin Calligraphy is not readily available in Europe at the moment. It is not currently in their stock at all and hence does not appear on any of the European websites either. The next batch is currently being produced and should be available online a few weeks from now.

The good news is, the first productions may be available in low quantities at boutiques.

So if anyone's interested, checking with your local boutique may lead to a pleasant surprise.

This is what happened to me. I called my local boutique and reserved one of the two LGRC they have in stock.

I'll pick it up later today.

@Nabado Thank you very much for sharing the results of your investigation! If you don't mind, would you please show a close-up photo of the nib on your 146 resin Calligraphy please? We are very eager to see it! Much appreciated!

Hi all,

Montblanc finally release the 146 flex nib in black resin. I purchased it today and it is close to the 149 version where it starts with XXF to B.

Thanks,

Andy

Oh wow, I thought these would never be sold. Congratulations.
Still too soon for me....sadly.
Ah well, I can always watch others enjoy...

@Nabado,

I agree with you. The solitaire version are expensive if you are only interested in the nib. I recommend those we are interested in the flex nib should pick one up before it becomes hard to get like the 149C. When I purchased my 149C in early 2019 I put an order for another one but I never got the call. I followed up a few times and the boutique told me no stock. Finally I got word that 149C in resin is discontinued.

@kaisede Sorry to hear you had trouble acquiring a 149C. I saw it was available directly from MB on their website last week, but it has since disappeared again.

I picked up the 146C this afternoon and just took some pictures of the nib, as requested (@como). It's just my phone's camera, so no fancy setups, but I think this should give a decent first impression of the nib up close.

I have not inked it yet, but I will report back once I have put the nib to the test.

This is the nib. At first sight, it seems very similar to the one on my 149C. The biggest change in design compared to the 149C seems to be that they have moved the "4810" down to below the figure-eight pattern.

149C and 146C next to each other. Some residue from nib creep on the 149C, hence the blueish tint on the nib. I'm actully curious to see if the 146C also "struggles" (I don't mind it at all) with nib creep.

From this perspective the tip of the nib on the 146C seems to be ever to slightly broader than the one on the 149C.

Another comparison with the 149C.

And another one.

This is the 146C compared to a regular EF 146 in the current version. The nib of the 146C is slightly larger and the shoulders of the nib are closer to the nib collar, which, I guess, is quite normal for flex nibs. Again, more nib creep on the regular 146 -- kon-peki's one hell of an ink, kids.

The bunch.

I just reserved my resin 146 flex at Tyson's Montblanc. Will pick it up this weekend. I have the 149 resin calligraphy on order from LCdC too, but who knows how long that will be until they deliver.
