Green-marble M200 with Golden Beryl.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Pilot Custom Heritage 91 with a maki-e image of an octopus. I chose it because it reminds me of the woodblock print "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife" by Hokusai (emphatically NSFW). Pilot Blue; I've put some other inks on my Amazon wish list and my birthday is a few weeks away, so next time I may have a less boring ink to report.

Today it's been the Pelikan P22 "Chinatown", M? nib -- Birmingham Pens Schenley Park Thicket Green; and the purple Pilot Falcon, SF nib -- Sailor Souboku.

The first was for today's MP journal entry; the second, mostly for writing checks to pay bills.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Is it possible to hand paint a pen at home? In other words, a do it yourself job. I could not do it myself as I have no artistic skills, but maybe a friend could. I'm assuming a special paint would be needed or covered with laquer or something else. Is this a goofy idea? Crazy? Stupid?

The real question is why not if it strikes your fancy.

My Montblanc 149 with Calligraphy nib. It’s knocked everything else off the desk since I acquired it last year.

Yes, it strikes my fancy, but is it feasible? That's what I want to know.

Feasible?  Yes.  Look at Etsy, there are all sorts of everyday objects, pens included, that folks have augmented with hand painted designs.

Since it's arrival earlier today the Sheaffer Craftsman (TD Filler) M nib, I bought from Ron Zorn has seen quite a bit of use.

Looks great!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

A photo of this pen would be interesting.  I’d never heard of the Sheaffer TouchDown system and had to look it up!  Didn’t come across the Craftsman, though.

Today, I'm using my grandfather's Parker Doufold/Victory for no other reason than I haven't picked it up for a while.

I decided the golden beryl is a bit too golden for my brown marbled.

Yet another Majohn (né Moonman) A1 pen in which the steel EF nib as supplied proves to be a width grade or two broader than a Japanese F nib.

The nib and feed combination only delivers a relatively narrow range of colours/shading with Noodler's Ink Apache Sunset, out of what has been demonstrated (by the Pilot MR nib mounted on a dip pen handle) the ink is capable of.

Beatiful pen, even better review and writing sample.

(I'm getting tempted to try this one out myself.)
