I started the day using a CS Series 58, ran out of ink and switched to a CS Churchill.

Were they both inked with the same ink?

Mostly a modern Conklin Duragraph with an EF nib inked with Noodler's Polar Blue.

Today's journal pen is a Pretty Pink Platinum Pocket Pen (but no pickled peppers :D) . The ink is Diamine Deep Dark Red.

Will work for pens...

Possibly pocket pen perfection. 😁

I generallly keep two pens inked. Today one is an old Parker 75 Sterling Cisele, which I don't think this crowd would find that intriguing. But the other is a bit more out of the way: a Filcao Royale Red Passion. It's the most outlandishly rococo pen I own (though the Duke Beijing Opera Rhythm gives it a run for its money). The feature that grabbed my attention was the crenellated section, unique as far as I know (saying this, I don't doubt that some old hand here will know of another). I also enjoy the guilloche finish. It's a pleasant writer to boot.

I just checked eBay. The Italian seller I bought it from no longer lists it. So now it's a collectable? Huzzah!

Can't say that I've come across a crenelated section, before. Thanks so much for sharing it.  🙂

I never tire of seeing the 75 Sterling Cisele, so if it's in use, let's see it. 😁

When I bought this Cisele last Summer it looked like it was covered in soot. But I gave it a few minutes with a silver cleaning cloth and now it could pass for new. Otherwise someone took very good care of it for 30 years. The gold trim and the 18K medium nib are still immaculate. It's dated IIQ, which I believe means 1990.

Ah, I usually only have a given ink in one pen at a time.  Perhaps I need to reconsider the idea of a back-up pen.  What ink?

The two Conway Stewarts were inked with Diamine Oxford Blue.  I have a CS Duro and an Onoto Magna inked with Diamine Regency Blue.

This supports my idea of having a back up pen - but it taken to its logical conclusion would imply I need double the number of pens, at least the ones I use to write anything that someone else would read.

The rub is that I have noticed a tendency for 1/3 - 1/2 of my pens to all run out of ink at the exact same time.

I can only offer that my 'backup pens' aren't duplicates, but just another of my favourite pens.

Diplomat Magnum with Vert du Gris

Pilot Metropolitan with kiri-same

Pilot VP with tsuki-yo

Benu with Taccia Ukiyo-e Hokusai Fukaki Hanada

Shaeffer with Motor Oil (ink, not actual motor oil)

Conway Stewart with Monteverde Blue black - unless it's Waterman Blue black- depends on if it were a W or M on the bottle

M and K Pelikan with MB Sand of the Desert

You see, @ParramattaPaul,trying to have back-up pens in the same ink could get problematic on a typical day...

Today it's mostly been the Azure al-Star, retrofitted with a hanzi nib -- Akkerman Delfts Blauw; and the Dusty Rose Laidtone Duofold (vac filler), F (?) nib -- vintage Quink Microfilm Black.

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Today's journal pen celebrates the bright green paddocks all around us... so pretty after the scary dry browns of summer. TWSBI Eco Green EF filled with Sailor Waka-uguisi. The bottle is getting so low I could only get a third of a fill in the pen. It's time to be seeking out an alternative.
