Stipula Etruria Ambra (old model), just returned from Italy where Stipula fixed the piston.

Great F to XF writer and a joy to look at.

Kaweco Liliput Fireblue. Has not been used for 7 months, and it still writes. I was under the impression that I had cleaned it when I stored it. It has not seen much use since I am working from home. It was my daily carry for two years.

Today's journal pen is a Sailor pocket pen with a fine nib - filled with Sailor Doyou.

Will work for pens...

(just posted a review of it on FPN).

Actually, your post is somewhat guilty of my decision to purchase this pen.

Thanks @Doug C

I do like the old Japanese pocket pens. Such a pleasure to use.

Right now, I have inked:

  • Pelikan M205 F, Aqua blue, with Iro Ku-Jaku.  Pen and ink are both gifts from my wife, and I use them to write to her billets-doux.
  • Pelikan M200 F, blue swirl, with L'artisan Pastellier Callifolio Oconto blue-black.  This is my first Pen of a Lifetime, and I owe Amber a review of this ink, of which she was kind enough to send me a bottle.  Alas, one of our labs got to it.
  • FPR Indus 1.0mm stub, red caps demo, with a vile mix of Noodler's Purple, Bad Black Moccasin, and some old MontBlanc-Simplo black with SuperCleaner SC21 from the Space Capsule bottle, that is about to be flushed for BBM diluted 1:1 with water.  This is a pretty close match in form factor to the M200/M205, but far more gaudy in appearance, and far less expensive.
  • FPR Darjeeling "Big Red" (orange with black cap final and section), F, with BBM 1:1 H2O.  This is an indulgence; nearly every time I might use it, I reach for the Jinhao instead, even though it writes a finer line with the same ink.
  • (My FPR Jaipur "Big Red" was recently given a F nib, rinsed, and set aside.)
  • Jinhao 51A XF, burgundy, BBM 1:1 H2O.  This is the pen I use for jotting at work.  It stays clipped to the outside of my scrub collar, is pulled free from its cap for half a line, and then reinserted until I need it again.  Neither this pen, nor the various Hero 616s that preceded it in this use case have ever fallen loose.  The barrel has come unscrewed, but the pen has never just dropped free.
  • Lamy Safari F Umbra, Lamy blue cartridge.  My wife bought this, and has decided that, like me, she doesn't much care for the Safari's form factor.  I clip this pen to my T-shirt collar when I'm wearing a t-shirt without a pocket.  She also has a Vista, and I'd probably prefer its smooth and glossy finish, but I'm not going to ask her for it.
  • Pilot Para//el 1.5, Noodler's Heart of Darkness 2:1 H2O.  This one doesn't see use very often at all, which is a shame.

The Indus and the Jinhao are the two that see the most use, currently.

Thanks for sharing, @AmandaW, and I second @mallymal1 - there's something I just like about the Japanese pocket pens. Plus, for how mysterious they remain given the available documentation, they're surprisingly easy to use and clean (not sure about repair, haven't had issues yet).

Waterman Preface in blue marble lacquer w/18K fine nib and Private Reserve Tropical Blue ink. This was a gift from my employees in the 1990s. The nib is a nail but writes smoothly and with good flow. It is a good note taker and journaling pen.20220506_205240.thumb.jpg.3f00f215efa3a42b9e9862bccfc85be4.jpg

The Serenite is an interesting pen that I couldn't afford back in the day. The nib appears to be a nail, but I'm sure it is a smooth writer, as most Waterman are. Is the gripping area as uncomfortable as it looks?

My pen of the week (and today) is the Waterman Serenité MF with Colorverse Quasar.

(Hi @mallymal1)

The original M nib was much too broad for me so I ground it towards an F. Still not satisfied I ground it a second time to give it a goccia-like shape with line variation from F to M.
