Agreed.  Even then lower end Pilot pens are outstanding.  I have a Metropolitan and a Cocoon;  both good pens.

Actually, the Pilot 78G was the perfect example (in my mind) of the very low cost, entry level pen that provided an excellent "first" writing experience for newbies. It came with a squeeze converter Con 20 (or earlier version) fine, medium or broad (stub/like the calligraphy nibs in the Plumix) and cost $12-15.00 except for "HisNibs" because he tested and tuned all of his pens (IIRC). Nibs were friction  inserts and very easy to clean and swap - you can use the Prera and other low end Pilot nibs too. I still have some around somewhere

Today’s pen is a Kaweco Frosted Sweet Banana with M nib filled with a cartridge of Kaweco Pearl Black ink. It’s a black ink kind of day.

I haven't used a Waterman in a while.  Just starting with a Expert Deluxe with a Fine nib to get back to my Watermans.  Another blue pen!

My recently-arrived Majohn C5 with EF nib. It's an interesting design, essentially an oversized CON-70 with a nib attached, but despite its strongly-tapered section it's a very pleasant pen with which to write.

Had to do fuel math at work so I took the opportunity to use contrasting inks, pens were an Esterbrook nibbed rapidograph (1550) and pilot black, an SJ with fine oblique (2314 f) and Sailor Manyo Sakura ,and a Parker true blue with a very lovely blue the name of which has slipped my mind for a moment :3

Today I am using my blue Pelikan M605 F with Edelstein Moonstone on my TR68 Filofax sized planner paper from Good Inkpressions.  I’ll be using a Sailor Hocoro with a fude nib for ink swatches on Tsubame ink cards later.

So far today it's been one of the black 51 Vacs with the T6 date code, still with vintage Quink Permanent Blue.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I think I need a True Blue with a clip to match my ring top. I keep seeing them around lately, and they are so pretty! I love the ink you filled it with as well, so if you remember what it is, let me know!

Italix Parson's essential - M nib.

I got some Writer's Blood cartridges and this pen was empty so I decided to pop a cartridge in.

It's amazing. Peter Ford certainly knows how to tune a nib. Whilst not as balanced as my S T Dupont, the tuning of the nib is still amazing after 10 years.

I've bought so many pens that cost more, that just don't match the gentle, smooth competence of this nib.
