Writing with Jinhao 9019 on Cosmo Snow paper.

Big disappointment.  After trying the Lady Emerald, I thought the Teranishi inks were going to be shaders.  Teranishi Taisho Antique Black arrived and it doesn't shade at all.

A Teranishi blue is on route so maybe ....

(the Teranishi Antique Black has a dry flow.)

Too bad it’s not a good shader for you. I find that dark grey has a better chance of shading than black. Is it a sheening ink, or is it bonus glitter that I am seeing?

Top 5 of 26 (in no particular order) currently inked pens:

Sailor 🐧 Mini Pro Gear Slim M, Van Dieman’s Neptune’s Necklace

MontBlanc 144R F, Diamine Bah Humbug

Pelikan M605 F, Pelikan Edelstein Moonstone

Waterman Caréne Black Sea, Teranishi Lady Emerald

Pilot 742 FA, Namiki Purple cartridge

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

We're on the road, so I brought a Platinum Preppy for journaling. It is smooth, writes a very fine line and is moderately wet. I don't normally post caps, but posting the cap on the lightweight Preppy balances it nicely.

The Preppy isn't too shabby.  At first, it was a little too fine of a nib for my taste but it has grown on me over time.  It puts to shame a few pens many times it's price for writing quality and durability.

I bought it on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by its performance. My cursive loops tend to be narrow, so the EF nib is great for me, especially on narrow ruled note paper.

Today it's been the recently repaired Cordovan Brown 51 Vac, F nib, still with diluted Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue; and the newest acquisition -- the Lamy al-Star "Harry Potter 'Ravenclaw'", M nib, with Lamy Vibrant Pink.

Mostly glitter.  It really doesn't do anything.  I hope the Teranishi Blue is more like the green.  We'll see. 😀👍

Meanwhile....  3 Jinhao X159s and a Moonman on Cosmo Snow paper.  Blue-Black inks

(Black pens write better) 🤪

I just started using some vintage Quink Permanent Black in rehydrated cartridges. I don’t know if it was always as good a shader as it is in its current state, as these are from the 1960s and I wasn’t around.

I noticed the same thing from my bottle of vintage Quink Black.  I had a pic of it somewhere but I can't find it.  It shades a silver color IIRC.

For the past couple of days it has been the Sheaffer Life White Dot that I got from @Paul-in-SF. It hasn't been out of my hand since it arrived and has just had its third fill of Dimamine Violet.  LOTS of pages written with this pen. It's the perfect size for me and the nib writes like a dream! It became a favorite from the first time I put its nib to paper. :) I foresee a long-term relationship.

Today, so far, it's been the Do-Write lever filler, newly refilled with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black (although I'm thinking that in future I might need a wetter ink in that pen...).
