Oh, also, it may be useful for me to add that the Plumix pens sold in Europe are chambered for European 'Standard International' cartridges/converters, rather than for Pilot's proprietary cartridges/converters.

I didn't realize that. I know that sounds dumb saying it. I bought one in Paris with some J Herbin carts and never wondered about the pilot vs international cart thing.

Thus, I will never frankenize a pen, however cheap. Maybe out of spite 😉

The CM nib transplant into the Wing Sung 3003, is my only frankpen adventure. I was so cross that the Preras for which  I paid full spendy retail here  dry out so fast as to be useless... I ordered a bunch of Plumix italics to get all the widths and WS3003s in all the colours and went at it.

I really should rehome the stupid Preras. To another country! Maybe send them to Mercianland where there is atmospheric humidity.

Will work for pens...

I used the TWSBI Eco Dark Sapphire pen today because I’ve  been missing my Momma.  I’ve been missing both my parents. The Eco was bought while she was alive for my birthday that she was gone for. 😢

I’m sorry to read this. I’m very fond of the Prera model. But where I live, it isn’t dry.

Sorry I overreacted. What i should have said is: the Prera is useless here in summer.  Like most of my Lamy, Kakuno, Metropolitan and many others I can only use them in the cooler months of the year. I have a big pen clean up about now and swap to my summer pens: TWSBI, Opus88, Wing Sung 3003, Jinhao 992 etc. It was great to find the Pilot nibs fit the 3003 and are reliable all year.

Will work for pens...

Parker Duofold Big Red Centennial with a broad italic nib (wow was Rubbermaid great about the nib exchange!) inked with Diamine Sunset. An orange pen with orange ink just before Halloween!

Also a Visconti HS Color Blue with stub nib.  Inked with Visconti blue ink.

Well, this Mercian would certainly be very grateful to receive a Prera! :D
Even sans its nib (presuming that the nibs from the Pilot Metropolitan and/or Plumix will fit on to a Prera).

If you are seriously considering re-homing your Preras, perhaps you might offer them as a PIF on

Obviously under whatever terms-&-conditions you choose

Oh no need to apologize. You were tired. All is good. You have educated me on living in an area that requires you to have pens for warm/hot weather, and pens for cool/cold weather.

In my area at this point in time, I just have a lot of pens available to use. Sometimes the pens allow for seasonal choices by color or design.

Is that snake still around?

Today it's been two Parker pens and two Japanese brand pens:

1) Parker 45 (Dark Blue, F nib) -- vintage Quink Permanent Violet.

2) Parker 45 (Flighter, B nib) -- diluted Robert Oster Dragon's Night.

3) Sailor Pro Gear Slim (Purple Cosmos, zoom nib) -- diluted Sailor Sky High.

4) Pilot Falcon (Purple, SF nib) -- Sailor Souboku.

Oh and a black Sharpie to cross out my name and address on a couple of political flyers that came in the mail (and will be tossed back in the mail tomorrow as "Refused -- Return to Sender").

My understanding that the Plumix model was discontinued.  Does that mean that the "Penmanship" models are still available?

I just bought a two-pack of the Penmanship a few months ago off Amazon for around $18.  Pilot USA still has the Plumix listed on their website.

Whatever. Plumix / Pluminix / Penmanship are mere nib transporters... bringing nibs that get transplanted into nicer pens.

That's why I bought them;  to use the EF nibs in other pens.  Honestly, though, they write very well.  It's a very comfortable pen.  I just don't care for the look, and prefer metal anyway.

The latest blog post from idipbananasintocoffee got me thinking about my vintage pens, so yesterday, I went through them and chose this one to use for a while. I will make my way through the others as time goes on. Sadly, I put the wrong ink into this as the Earl Gray is too dry for this pen.

Slept in this morning ... Didn't go to the flea market today.

Inked up and used an older Osmiroid with the "copperplate" nib and Parker Black ink.

The Churchill was first but ran out of ink in short order.  Next up was the Bellinger -- also out of ink. I then gave today's task to the FPUK LE pen only to quit writing halfway through signing something.  Moving on, the Scholar got me a bit further through today's paperwork before it too ran out of ink.  In the end, it was the ever-trusty Magna got me through the task.

The result was one ink spill whilst attempting to refill one of the pens, three pens re-inked, one pen (FPUK) chastised for being a slacker, and the Churchill cleaned and given the rest of the month off.

The FPUK LE pen will be sent to Coventry for its poor performance once it has had a bath.
