What pen(s) are you using today?

I got some Sheaffer cartridges today so I inked my childhood fountain pen. I never used it much all those years ago. I was surprised in how good this little pen actually is.

Laguna Niguel, California.

It seemed appropriate today to use the Leonardo Magico prototype I picked up at the San Francisco pen show this year.  I had just received an email from Leonardo about the release of their new Magico, the Vista.

Now I know the name of my prototype pen.  I’m just surprised they didn’t release the blue… or offer a gold nib.  I just adore this pen!

Leonardo Momento Magico “Vista” prototype in what I believe is Blue Hawaii resin with rose gold hardware and 14k medium nib.  Smoothest writing pen I own.

Ive been experimenting more with the Platinum 3776 Century.  It had been writing nicely---I really like very much how it presents my cursive.--BUT--

it had been faint and rather what I'd call dry.  So today I held the pen slightly rotated counter clock wise...and lo and behold...more prominent wetter ink.

Put a photo of my currently inked 6 pens in the photography section of the forums.

Enjoying a 4 day weekend here.

Are you sure it's not an oblique nib?

Greg,

I have the same Bexley in ss and black. The silver design (which I believe Howard called 'brains') was supposed to oxidize. Mine never did. Did yours?

Hi @Doug C,

I have this pen in both the red and the black and never had any oxidation at all.  Not sure why not.  Rhodium plated maybe?

Well, you’ve solved the mystery!

And that is sure a good looking pen.  Does it have a bit of heft to it?  Or pretty light in the hand?

Currently most used pen: Lamy 2000, Makrolon <F> -- filled with Lamy Pink Cliff ink

Today’s pen will be a Pilot Mama Kakuno in honor of my Mom.  I miss her so much. The pen has a M nib, and a Pilot black ink cartridge. It’s the first time I’ve used this pen.

A black Parker Sonnet, inked with Kurotake Shinkon. A pen a student of mine gave me as a gift after the class was over.  I usually prefer somewhat flashier pens, but this one has sentimental value.

Today it's been the Pelikan M120 Iconic Blue, M nib, still with Edelstein Star Ruby; and the Parker 51 Vac (T6 date code), F, nib, finishing a fill of vintage Quink Permanent Blue Black.

Plus a black Sharpie, to cross out my name and address a QR code and write "VOID" on the attached write-in ballot application on a couple of stupee political flyers....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Seems light to me!

Today for me is my Sheaffer 330 Quasi-Imperial with M nib. It came in the mail today from Peyton Street pens. I wish it was a little thicker and heavier, but there is nothing wrong with it and it sits well in a shirt pocket. Overall it's a nice pen I'm going to enjoy using.

Interesting. I've wondered if there's some kind of standard others might go by (or consider) in weight preference. For me, 30-grams is the breaking point between light & heavy, & over time has been the deal-breaker on several pens I've considered buying.

I got 99 problems but a BIC ain't one!
