Get a Scholar. You will love it.

(I have three of them.)

What's so good about them, Paul?

I got 99 problems but a BIC ain't one!

If I said I'll fix it, I will. There's no need to remind me every 6 months.

Pilot Varsity, black

I like those pens. I keep a small handful of them (Vpen <F> black) in my desk at work as giveaways. You inspired me to get one out and use it just now. Very smooth pens for what they are.

What did you play today?

Today it's mostly been the Pelikan M120 Iconic Blue, M nib, with Edelstein Star Ruby; and the purple Pilot Falcon, SF nib, still with Sailor Souboku.

Parker 45 Flighter GT with Lamy blue ink. I had meant to ink it with Lamy turquoise but grabbed the wrong bottle.. Oh well. In any case it helped remind me what I liked about these pens. Made me thing about getting a cartridge version of my Parker 61, but ended up ordering a Pilot E95s instead ;)

The nibs are smooth and glide across the page like a knife through warm butter.  I can leave one inked, capped, and unused on my desk for a week or more and it will write straight away.  It goes without saying they are well made.

Floating now between one of my Ellington Stealths (have two - one in pristine condition and the other missing most of the finish) and my new Pilot retractable (about $80 on Amazon). Amazed at how small the nib is on the Pilot, but it writes nicely. In a meeting the other night and it blew a couple of folks' minds.

So far today it's been the Waterman Exclusive (black, 18K F nib) with diluted vintage Skrip Royal Blue.  I really meant to flush the pen out entirely -- but after spending most of the week REPEATEDLY trying to flush Edelstein Amethyst out of the nib unit on the Reform "Westinghouse" c/c pen, I just didn't have the energy to deal with flushing another pen.  Although, in the process, I did discover that the Pelikan converter "borrowed" from one of the Pelikan P22 c/c pens actually fits in the Reform pen just fine....

So now, once the Reform nib unit and converter are completely dry, I need to see if that converter will work in a couple of other Reform pens I have (dating back to the nib-tuning workshop I went to at my first pen show), and then I will buy several more Pelikan converters for ALL the Reforms, as well as for the P10 Twist that was swag from last year's Pelikan Hub (thanks, I think, to a local stationery store that sells pens, including Pelikans).

Used my Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 LeGrande to write a thank you note to the person who gifted it to me.

I usually have multiple pens inked at a time, because I like writing in different colours (I don't usually fill to the brim)! This week it is Use Up Some Samples time:

The cursed TWSBI 580* - 3 Oysters Doldam - a little dry, yellow tinged grey

Benu Lavender - Kyoto Sakuranezumi - deep dusky purple

Benu Bora Bora - Waterman Mysterious Blue - yup

Benu 4 Leaf Clover - Sailor Tokiwa-matsu - deeeeeep delicious green

Platinum #3776 <C> nib - FWP Goose Poupon - basically R&K Alt-Goldgrun

Benu Luminous Amber - Taccia Tsuchi Golden Wheat - basically a more expensive KWZ Honey

Benu Bloody Mary - Platinum Cassis Black - a shady burgundy

*it has not been a Good Week for my TWSBIs - 540 and 580 both suffered stuck pistons, my Eco-T lost its seal and drained all the ink out as I watched it, have stripped, lubricated and reassembled but not convinced I'm getting a proper seal yet. Will have another fiddle with it this week.

Yep, I understand COMPLETELY about WMB.  I had people in my local pen club ask me one time what the green ink was in some pen of mine that was being passed around.  And I said, "NOT a green ink!  I know what's in this pen!"  But for some reason on whatever paper it was, it didn't look like a blue black....

Might have been the Red Shadow Wave Vac -- that pen has been inked up with NOTHING but WMB since I first got it, at my first pen show, and I took it to one of the repair tables to be checked out, and on the recommendation that the friend who had gone with me, went to the Indy-Pen-Dance table.  And Mike Kennedy checked the pen out and tested it with water and told me he thought the diaphragm in it was perfectly okay.  And I said, "You got ink?" and he said "Waterman Mysterious Blue...."  And I said, "That works for me!" and I ran that pen for THREE years with zero maintenance, other than refilling as needed with WMB.

As for your TWSBIs?  YIKES!  I'll admit I haven't been all that impressed with my 580-AL and 580-ALR (because the piston head does not extend all the way to the end of the feed, when they get low on ink I can develop air bubbles that block the ink flow).  And while the 700-Vac (I got the "Iris") is pretty, it took forever for the ink chamber to dry after I gave it an initial flush.  I didn't want to have to keep playing around with removing the nib and feed.  Then, a few months ago, broke down and inked it up again and promptly lost it..... :wallbash:

Today I’ll use the Karas Kustoms Decograph in matte gray with 1.1mm stub nib. It was filled from a sample of GvFC Stone Grey.

Cypress Applewood w/ EF (?) nib and Diamine Nutcracker ink (In fact, a perfect match between the two.)

Aurora 98,,  Fine nib, Flighter, with Parker black ink cartridge

Nemosine (Model - the basic one, don't recall the name?) .6nn CI nib and Iroshizuku Yama Budo ink.

Did some ongoing journaling during the day.
