Still using the Pilot Cocoon w/ EF nib and Namiki black cartridge.

Still liking it, too.

Although, this ink tends to bleed a bit more than the Pelikan 4001. I am considering filling one of the cartridges with 4001 to see if it's the ink or this particular nib just being a little wetter.

It’s a much wetter ink than 4001. Pilots are much drier pens than Pelikans. You could try adding a drop or two of water to the Namiki cartridge and that would help curb the feathering.

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

I did some paper testing with 11 pens today: Pelikan M800 needlepoint, Pelikan Twist P-10 EF, Pilot Elite Lady F, Parker IM Monochrome Blue F, WingSung/Lucky SF demonstrator, Sailor PGS,  Platignum M, Cross Solo M,  Parker “51” M, MB 144 IB, Brute Force Designs with Bock 1.1mm stub. Inks listed in photo. Not all the pens made it into the picture. large.IMG_1148.jpeg.a53e172c880ccb5fa4a34a58fed5f742.jpeg

I like your desk set up.  Your penquin-phernalia is hilarious.  The pens are nice too.

Playing with my new Lamy Studio.  The medium gold nib is delightful.

Thank you! I am still working on how to set things up. I got the desk in May, and I haven’t quite configured it just so. My 🐧 🐧 make me smile, I’m glad they made you laugh. Your red Studio is lovely! Those gold z nibs are so nice, I wish they came in as many widths as the steel ones.

Most of my writing is in my Full Focus planner, which has decent paper. It's not really feathering at all. It just soaks into the page leaving near-bleedthrough on the other side.

I'm not a fan of the low volume of the Con-40 converter. However, I may just do that anyway and use the 4001, which doesn't seem to bleed as much.

Thanks, also, for the reminder of using water. I'll try that as well.

Those con-40 converters are just unpleasant all around. I will tell you that my latest experience of a dry Diamine ink in a Pilot Prera was so bad, the pen squeaked as I tried to write with it; I ended up using White Lightning to make it work. It’s worth experimenting so you get to know your tolerances and preferences. Some papers are also not suited to writing on the reverse of with a fountain pen, even a tiny Japanese EF.

Oh- that sparked an idea- have you tried writing with your Cocoon in reverse, with the nib feed side up? This will give a finer, less saturated line if the pen is able to be written with that way, some will write, some won’t. It might help with your planner.

Yes. This particular nib is too inconsistent with reverse writing. It's also unpleasantly scratchy on that side.

Been a Parker day for me today.  The first was one of the new-to-me dark blue Parker Vectors I got recently, M nib (inked up with Noodler's Grinch Garnet).  The other was one of the black 51 Vacs with the T6 code on it (think it's an F nib), still inked up with vintage Quink Permanent Blue Black.

Hmmm.  Just realized that both pens actually have a "twin" -- I haven't yet inked up the other dark blue Vector (which has the same date code as the one in rotation and which also has a medium nib); and I haven't inked up the other black 51 Vac (not sure of what the nib on it is -- the one I found recently in a box in my living room, and which I don't remember acquiring :o) because I want to get it checked out first to make sure that I don't need to have the diaphragm on it replaced or something.

Conway Stewart Churchill and Onoto Magna. The Magna finally ran out of ink.

I was going to give it a rest, but it really is my favourite pen.  I'll re-ink it in the morning.

Today it's going to be an Ulpia Desierto. This is a pen produced by a taller (small shop) in Asturias, Spain. Production seems to be limited, but of high quality and distinctive.

I have mentioned this in another thread but their site (Ulpia)has been down (in 'maintenance mode ') for a month.

Anyone know what's going on?

I started to use my Jiaxiang JD. I filled with Sailor Blue Black. I refilled my orange Jinhao 159 with Pelikan Edelstein Mandarin and also have my Pelikan Café Crème in use.

So far today, it's been one of the "T6" 51 Vacs, still with vintage Quink Permanent Blue Black; and (until I got the 51 Vac refilled), finished up today's Morning Pages entry with the Pelikan M200 Café Crème, still with diluted Edelstein Topaz).
