That is a great combination for the occasion @Misfit

Thank you. I tried to enjoy the day, even though it was not totality. Today I woke up, and was feeling disappointed I didn’t get to see totality. I have to recall the totality I saw in 2017.

Anyway, my pen of the day is the True Writer Kyoto with M nib filled with Ferris Wheel Press Land of Shangri-La.

Today I stubbed 5  Jinhao 992 pens for the Hub, using Waterman Serenity Blue for the work. I also used my own stub nib piston pen with Private Reserve Pearlescent Blue-Silver.

@Misfit, I really enjoyed your pens/inks/notebook combination for the eclipse!

Thank you @Penguincollector  in a way, they are better than my partial eclipse experience. I’m still a bit not happy about missing totality. It was about 4 hours away. 😐
(but 8 hours round trip plus viewing time) hmm, I looked it up, and most results show 5 hours and 12 minutes.

I’m sorry that the trip wasn’t feasible for you, @Misfit. I’m glad that your collection was able to somewhat assuage the feeling of dissatisfaction with the situation. That’s a long time to spend driving.

I just used my glass pen to add today’s ink to my ink a day calendar: Diamine Happy Holidays. I also used a Schneider BK406.

Today I'm using an English Waterman's Champion 501 in burgundy with a 14ct flexible W-2B nib, I'm guessing mid 1940's era. The ink is a mystery I reconstituted with a little water, I don't remember what's in it. Could be a mix, very dark with greeny/brown shading, I quite like it.

That was the main topic of conversation before choir rehearsal last night.  The choir director and her boyfriend drove to Youngstown, OH and couldn't find a good place to stop so they went on to nearly Akron but was showing a photo she took on her phone of the corona.  Another person went to Edinboro, PA with her "not-boyfriend" and they found a restaurant or pub in a strip mall with outside seating in the back.  But some friends of mine were staying with some other friends of mine who live between Syracuse and Rochester, NY for the weekend, and apparently the weather was too bad for them to see *anything* (my one friend was griping about it on FB).

I've never actually seen totality, but around here it did get darker than I remember growing up (where totality was up in Nova Scotia).  I was watching coverage on one of the local channels, and the station had sent a reporter and one of the weathermen to Erie, and one of them described it as "When it got dark, the streetlights came on!" -- which I wouldn't have thought about happening for some reason; and the weather guy was getting ribbed by a guy from some science center up there about wearing a t-shirt and shorts (it hadn't accorded to the weather guy how much the temperature might drop during totality).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

When I saw totality in August of 2017, it didn’t get as dark as it seemed on the TV coverage. It seemed more like evening. I think we had 2 minutes and 21 seconds of totality. This time places were getting 4 minutes of totality.

But seeing it once, makes you, well me at least, want to see more total solar eclipses. I was looking online at future eclipses. Some take place over open seas. I saw an area in Europe or Asia that will get two in 10 years or so because both eclipse paths overlap.

My pen of the day will be a Levenger True Writer Pinkly filled with Iroshizuku Yama Budo. It has a M nib.

I don’t want to empty the ink, but I have the Levenger Pinkly ink now.  Have to wait….

Caran d'ache Madison with 18k nib. The (2nd hand) pen came with a 14k nib originally, but the plastic around the nib had split which resulted in ink leaking all over the place. I sent the pen to C'da's UK stockists and they fitted a new 18k nib and section which works fine and dandy (for a fee).

I wrote our order out for a Chinese meal. Folks were asking me why I was going this, but the waitress was more than happy to take my lost and feed it into the computer so everyone got what they wanted super fast.

A Pilot Kakuno Violet - it has a white body - with a medium nib and Van Dieman's Eclipse. No eclipse down here Down Under, but that doesn't deter participation.  🌘

Will work for pens...

Thankyou @cossar for posting about a crochet pen case a week or so ago, I dusted off my rusty crochet hook and made one. Lots of fun.

Finished today, just in time to snuggle a Cement Grey TWSBI Eco and a Charcoal Lamy Safari.

Spent a big, fat premium for the discontinued Pelikan Amethyst ink off of eBay which arrived yesterday. I inked up my Pelikan M205 Amethyst with a 14kt Medium Italic nib with it and it's writing like a dream. Fortunately, I got a deal on the pen (also from eBay), so I think I've probably broken even for costs on this pair. Absolutely wonderful, smooth flowing, writing experience. Color is your basic reddish purple plum, but the Edelsteins all perform extremely well and being Pelikan, are hopefully safe inks. Ink feels like a perfect pairing for this nice little demonstrator.

Aurora Blue Mare Optima, medium nib. It's filled with Carmel Sea Blue from The Pleasure of Writing (formerly Bittner's) in Carmel, California. This pen and ink go very nicely together.

👋Hi Neighbor! Does the pleasure of writing have a brick and mortar store? Your pen and ink choice are making me long for a weekend at the seaside.

Today  I'm writing with my Pelikan M200 Blue Demonstrator with a customized broad crisp italic nib ground for me years and years ago by the talented Mr. Binder. It's given me so many pleasant hours of writing over the years. I hope he and his lovely wife are doing well wherever they are these days. His pens just go on ad on making my morning journalling better.

It's filled with Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite. These easy, smooth flowing inks have really converted me over the years. They just pair so well with Pelikan's fountain pens. I hope they release a Golden Lapis M200 to go with the new ink I've got on order. Keep up the good work Pelikan!

@AmandaW Love the pen case! My sleep addled brain initially registered it as a very literate sock puppet. 👍Now I've got the Reduced Shakespeare Company doing puppet shoes in my brain. Their speed, reversed Hamlet is particularly good.
