Black Pelikan M205, self ground CI F nib.  KWZ Confederation Brown, diluted 3:2.

Dull and murky! :D

Add lightness and simplicate.

I'm using a Series 58 Conway Stewart again today.  It is small in my medium size hands but is such a joy to use posted.

I filled up this Van Gogh today, which I was not using since a while.

I could not recall why it was being somewhat neglected, but immediately remembered when I put it to paper, awfully dry and hardly giving any satisfaction... Since I put it away nonetheless, my nib fixing skills have somewhat improved, so, noted that even with a very wet JH ink, flow was very restricted, I pulled nib and feed out of the collar, widened the tines a little, and gave a delicate run with a sharp blade to the ink channel, then put them back. Aha! much better now! Carefully made sure the tines were aligned and gave it also a mild run on micromesh 12000 to get rid of some slight edgy strokes. Another pen now!

(I still need to fix the converter issue now, the pen has one of those nasty converters where ink sticks to the walls...)

What color?  And yes, I have found the CS looks small, but doesn't feel too small when writing.  The only pens I don't post are retractables.

Very nice pens as usual, Doug! :)

Thanks sansenri! TBH the 360 is a Frankenpen. It has a Bock nib, rotated for my left hand use.

It's green.  It is the limited edition Shamus Heaney pen.  Having it I can understand why he wrote a poem about it.

The Conway Stewart

“Medium,” 14-carat nib,
Three gold bands in the clip-on screw-top,
In the mottled barrel a spatulate, thin

Pump-action lever
The shopkeeper
Demonstrated,

The nib uncapped,
Treating it to its first deep snorkel
In a newly opened ink-bottle,

Guttery, snottery,
Letting it rest then at an angle
To ingest,

Giving us time
To look together and away
From our parting, due that evening,

To my longhand
“Dear”
To them, next day.

I have presented this poem at dinner at the family poetry night we do once a week!  I agree wholeheartedly.  And I adore his translation of "Beuwoulf"; must have been the pen that honed his sensibilities.

This poem is why there is presently a Conway Stewart in my house.

There is an article somewhere in which he says that his parents gave him a Conway Stewart as a present when he was at school.

I have his Selected Poems; 1988 - 2013.  I must read it again when I have time.

Actually, I use many pens almost every day. Today, I did a little project. The pens used for this stanza were 1) Kaweco Dia2 with a shadow nib, 2) Pelickan M800 Blue O Blue with a IB nib ground to CI, and 3) a Maiora Alpha K with a stock stub nib.

Today's journal pen: a brown Pilot Prera with a fine italic nib (from a Pluminix) filled with Robert Oster Motor Oil.

My Pilot Metro was due for a cleaning! My fingers definitely show it, 😁

“Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you'll meet a boy who will learn your favorite flower, your favorite song, your favorite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won't matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart."
