I'm using a bunch of them, but not to write.  Pen maintenance day- I started having trouble finding pens that still had ink flowing...large.IMG_37702.JPG.8490752a5ba38035a2b253dd3a3310bd.JPG

I went to a pen club meeting today and tried a few different MB 149 pens: Fritz Schimpf Italic Edge, a needlepoint calligraphy, and a medium(?’) decorated in raden by Bokimondoh(sp?). They were inked with Original Dark Lilac, New Dark Lilac, and Blackberry. I also tried a Waterman 52 with a music nib, a  silver grain d’orge  Parker 35 and it’s friend the 75, and a gold grain d’orge 180 (I really want more of these, I love the different finishes).

Top 5 of 26 (in no particular order) currently inked pens:

Pelikan M300 CIF, Pelikan Edelstein Golden Beryl

MontBlanc 144R F, Diamine Bah Humbug

Sheaffer 3-25 EF ringtop, Skrip Black

Waterman Caréne Black Sea, Teranishi Lady Emerald

Pilot 742 FA, Namiki Purple cartridge

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

Last night, I picked up 3 pens before finding one that had some ink in it. This evening, I will take a look at the rest and make sure that they are ok.

This week was M300s, green-striped with Stipula Musk Green on Thursday, Friday was the orange with Stipula Saffron and tonight the black with Sailor Yomogi and the ruby with Levenger Pinkly!.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Received my two Mahjohn P136 today. One has 1.1 mm tip and the other has EF tip. The stub is fun, the EF needed some breaking in. 😁

So far today it's been the Peter Pauper Press "Falling Blossoms" pen, F? nib, still with J Herbin Eclat de Saphir.  I was going to flush that pen out last night but got sidetracked and decided it was just easier and faster to refill it this morning instead....

On the one hand, I know if I had a single pen my pen would always be ready to write other than for a brief speck of time.

On the other hand, I realize that owning only one would severely limit my ability to use contrasting colors or nibs of various sizes that behave on the different surfaces upon which I write.

Peter Pauper Press "Falling Blossoms" pen,

I like their paper.  I didn't realize they made pens!

Well, this this is actually made in China, and Peter Pauper Press is selling them for something called "Jane Mosse Designs".  It was kinda pretty, and actually came with a converter in the box as well as a cartridge, so for roughly $20 plus tax in a local stationery store/bookstore/novelty shop that carries some Sheaffer and Pilot FPs and inks, I couldn't resist. B).

Today it's mostly been the as yet to be identified Waterman lighter with the somewhat oddball (but functional!) syringe-style converter, F-ish (?) nib, with Waterman Mysterious Blue; and the Sailor 1911S Loch Ness Monster, MF nib, still with Sailor Souboku.

ETA: I'm really going to have to spend some time taking photos of the mystery Waterman because I have yet to find ANYTHING that looks remotely like this one (I looked at the links on the Peyton Street Pens website, but not seeing anything that has this style of clip -- which is sort of rectangular looking and doesn't have any holes in it; the cap engraving says:

WATERMAN

MADE IN FRANCE

below the end of the clip.

But it is a nice looking pen, and is a nice size and weight for my hand; the slightly tapered barrel end is evocative of a Parker 45, and I think it may be a similar size/girth; but has a flat top with this sort of squiggly looking "W" (?) on the flat part....

Today’s pen is one that arrived yesterday, and was filled today. It’s an Eversharp Skyline with M nib. It has a red and gold striped cap, and burgundy pen body. I filled it with Waterman Florida Blue ink.
