What pen(s) are you using today?

A Jinhao 159, Diamine Onyx Black and a Pelikan M200, Diamine Antique Copper.  The 159's a real workhorse.

Journal pen today was a Lamy Safari White with Black clip EF filled with Lamy Black to celebrate the first of the gentle Autumn rains. The rise in humidity means all the pens that dry out in our summer can now come out to play. The summer heat might come back, of course, but it is raining now, with more forecast for tomorrow and the humidity is 82% which is good enough for me.

Drawing pen has been a Cement Grey TWSBI Eco F filled with Noodler's Lexington Grey.  I'm testing how waterproof it is on various papers, when washed over with watercolour. So far it's been ok on Art Spectrum 210gsm Draw & Wash and Art Spectrum 300gsm Watercolour. Maybe the ink hasn't been heavy enough to behave badly with the sizing. I will keep pushing my luck and report back if that changes.

Will work for pens...

So far today it's been the blue Monteverde Strata, Omniflex nib (although I haven't really gotten the hang of the "flex" part) -- still with Platinum Classic Sepia Black (and still trying to make up my mind about whether to get a full bottle of the ink or not).

Oh, I've forgotten that I don't have the dark blue one. I might have to pick one up when I'm visiting Japan again in several weeks' time!

+1 on the X159.  Love those pens. 👍😀

I had to look up the Peacock version... wonderful feathers 😀👍  And you sure like your 1.1 nibs...👍😀.  I checked the ink but saw conflicting reviews.  Some had it dark and 'Mountians' had it light...

As for me:

I got another Jun Lai 630 (M) yesterday and I loaded it with a sample of J Herbin Emerald Of Chivor and wrote on Cosmo Snow paper.  I posted it in @Penguincollector's What Paper, Pen & Ink are you using thread LINK.

The outcome was interesting so I'm going to post it here too.

It was an outline ink:

I'm not that good at keeping the shimmer in suspension but when I did, the shimmer, shading and colors came out....

@USG I got samples of several peacock inks when I found the discontinued Retro 51 Peacock pen. I’ve used two so far, and 3 Oysters Peacock Green is a better match. The Peacock Blue seemed darker, coming out of the 1.1mm stub nib. I used it yesterday, and looking at it now, it’s more a medium blue.

Today's journal pen is a vintage Pilot with a Posting nib and Iroshizuku Yama-guri.  It's my favourite Japanese pen even with, or because of, it's worn plating and broken feed. It reminds me that being old, worn and a little broken does not mean I am completely useless. Yes, it's difficult some days.

Likewise, today's drawing pen with an EF TWSBI Eco.  The Lexington Grey is from a different bottle, presumably different batch, to the one I showed a few days ago. This ink was rejected by another user because it feathers and bleeds too much for normal use. It's behaving well on this cheap (185gsm Canson Montval) watercolour paper. Perhaps the sizing suits it.

I’m going to use the TWSBI Eco (China) Cement Gray with 1.1mm Nemosine stub nib.  It has Diamine grey ink in it.

So did the nib stab your finger? And did it hurt?

It was stuck in my finger and it did hurt a little. As soon as I pulled it out, I knew it would be a "tattoo" for ever....image0(7).jpeg.4ffc3f246de7f607a8e4b0de6a274faf.jpeg
