I wrote about my first flight of the day

Since it’s your notebook, I’d suggest either writing expletives or $#%& marks for them.  (I have inside information.)

Pilot VP and clone.

Today I am using a Pilot VP with a fine “special alloy” nib and a Majohn A1 with a steel extra fine nib.

The Majohn is an exceptional high quality exact copy of a standard Pilot VP.  Workmanship is top notch and the pen feels and operates exactly like a VP.  The nib was another story, almost unusable out of the box, no ink flow and scratchy.  It was fixed with some delicate nib smoothing and adjustments and now writes fine.

The VP needs no introduction, but it’s nib out of the box was not up to par either.  The Pilot VP 18k nibs are usually exceptional so this was a surprise.  However my nib skills brought it up to spec as well.

Parker "51" Aerometric (Broad, England) - Waterman Black

Esterbrook SJ/2556 nib. I have found that 2556 nibs vary in how they perform. This one has always been smooth and producing a wider script that some others.

I am using my Visconti QWERTY pen today. Sketch of her is from a couple of years ago - but my mom started in typesetting, so the pen always reminds me of her20221201_210619.thumb.jpg.d42d73ee3b6b96b4daef0db0fd98ea3a.jpg

That's lovely artwork, Jayebird!  What are the inks used?

As for me, today it's been the Noodler's FPC (I think it's the King Philip Purple one), flex nib, with Noodler's Heart of Darkness; and the Vibrant Pink Lamy al-Star, finishing up the testing and comparisons with other inks of Noodler's Grinch Garnet.

Today, I am exercising a semi-antique, red Sheaffer Triumph, Made in England.

I filled it with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant-Schwarz in order to compare with much wetter

inks.

Have fun!
