Hmmm... so I don't require the Pilot Explorer after all? What about the Pilot Capless in the same colours... (thankfully my Matte Black Capless dries out pretty quick here. That's how I talk myself out of that Stormtrooper each time I get tempted. So far it's worked).

Will work for pens...

@AmandaW oh no, you still need a Pilot Explorer to be the lead pen in an expedition of fountain pens.

Today I'm using my favourite wooden fountain pen, the Omas Cristoforo Colombo II, a Paragon-sized Omas in briar wood.

Montblanc 149 w/ blue (unknown brand) ink. The nib is a somewhat stubbish fine.

Also, yesterday, I used a LAMY Safari, metallic turquoise, with Diamine green mist ink.

I continue to enjoy the circa '49 Esterbrook Deluxe coupled with a 9668 nib.  The photo is for reference and is another Deluxe from my collection.

I’m using my father’s grey GT Parker 45 F Octanium today, inked with Pelikan Blue-Black. It’s the first pen he bought when he was exiled to the US in ‘63, and that he gifted me when I was allowed to use a pen in school. He had stopped using fountain pens daily by then, preferring Jotters or Cross gold filled ballpoints. When he gave it to me in the ‘80s, he still had an unopened pack of Parker/Eversharp cartridges and a bottle of Quink BB. He passed away yesterday at 91.  He nurtured my love of pens and paper and birds. May he rest in peace.

Top 5 of 19 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

@Penguincollector I'm sorry for your loss.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Amen, and please accept my sincere condolences.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.
