Today will be a Pelikan P1.

A fine choice.

My Pelikan for today is rather less grand: a fine-nibbed Level L65.

My only Mont Blanc, which I used yesterday for the first time in a year, is about that old. It was given to me in 1989 when I completed a post graduate degree.

So why don't you use it?

Honestly, it's a nice pen and a good pen to use, but to me, my Onoto Magna feels better in my hand and is much nicer to use.  Truth be told, I actually prefer my CS Duro to the Mont Blanc.

Thanks! It's a pen I really love, great writer. Choosing to write with any kind of Pelikan is in and of itself a grand choice!

Very Colorful 🙂👍

Me Today

A Jinhao marathon.  18 - X159s, 2 - 100s, 20 inks, 8 Notebooks and  lots of Cosmo Snow paper....

But there was a problem.  When I got to the X159 with the vintage J Herbin Cafe Des Iles ink that I re-hydrated, the previously light tan ink had become very dark and seemed to refuse to dry completely.  Something was wrong and I suspected it was the beginning of the dread scourge of Mold.  It wasn't the end of the world if one of the X159s got contaminated but I also had that ink in my Waterman Boucheron.  Copious cleaning procedures for both pens.  Loaded some Sailor Sumire in the Boucheron hoping the phenol in the Sumire will kill off any lingering mold and Sailor DoYou, which I got to clean out the stains in my Omas 365 demonstrator, in the X159.

Now this Doyou is strange ink.  It doesn't sheen, shade, Outline or anything.  It's supposed to be dark brown but it looks flat black to me.   "Dirt", Sailor calls it.  I don't know what to call it.  Anyway now I'm on Mold patrol.

LIFE NOTEBOOK has yellow pages.

Did you eventually clean out all the mold?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

When it is all said and done, pens are personal and we all have our preferences. I only have one CS, but not the Duro. I purchased it over twenty years ago and can't remember the specific name of the line. I do recall that the color combo is called Autumn. It is on the small side and like your Montblanc it doesn't get much use. I need to get it out and rev it up.

So today I am going to go one better on the time line (as compared to yesterday's thirty-seven year old MB) and get out my Sheaffer Targa from 1973. It was the only FP I owned at that time and so I used it daily for over ten years. It shows a lot of wear, but it's a tough old goat - black with gold trim (deluxe model) - and I still have the matching pencil.

@RobNYC I love your pen holder. That little crab is just trying so hard to be helpful!

Today's a personal favorite that is almost always in the daily rotation: a Pelikan M805 Ocean Swirl with an EF Nib filled with Pelikan Edelstein Aquamarine. A smooth, reliable writer that also reminds me of growing up by the ocean.

You're welcome!

My first M805, I think, A splurge at the time, but I'm really glad I grabbed it and the matching ballpoint before the prices got crazy. The one downside of the special editions!

So true, gotta get them while you can!

Main pen is an Opus 88 Demonstrator with FPNibs-modified Jowo semiflex nib, with support from a medium-nibbed Pelikan Epoch 361 and a steel Sheaffer No Nonsense with fine italic nib cut to a left-foot oblique.

Twenty year old DaniTrio. It is of brass construction so it is very heavy, which I like. Deep, deep blue with gold trim and 14k medium nib.
