Thanks DilettanteG, looks like what I am looking for indeed. And for sure the price is right. Mucho obligado.

Just one so far today, a Faber Castell School pen fitted with an Osmiroid Easy Change Extra Fine Italic nib. The ink is Sailor Blue which is a bit dry, but not scratchy or unpleasant at all and that's a new experience for me - I expect dry = unpleasant - not from this one. I'm looking forward to experimenting with inks.

Will work for pens...

I picked up 2 pens that were out of ink, so on my third try, I ended up with a Chinese stub filled with Private Reserve Pearlescent Blue-Silver. I really enjoy this ink. I only wrote in my journal and engagement calendar, so one paper is very thick and has a bit of texture, the other also thick, but smooth and shows off sheen and shimmer well.

Top 5 of 26 (in no particular order) currently inked pens:

Sailor 🐧 Mini Pro Gear Slim M, Van Dieman’s Neptune’s Necklace

MontBlanc 144R F, Diamine Bah Humbug

Pelikan M605 F, Pelikan Edelstein Moonstone

Waterman Caréne Black Sea, Teranishi Lady Emerald

Pilot 742 FA, Namiki Purple cartridge

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

Cross Solo EF with a 1:4 mix of Noodlers black and Noodlers Walnut.

Nice fine wet dark brown, water resistant and archival. Works well for cramming writing into my diary.

Platinum PK-1000, inked with Platinum Blue-Black. I checked to make sure there was an adequate supply of ink.

Today, so far, it's been a recent purchase: a blue Monteverde Strata with an Omniflex nib, currently inked up with Platinum Classic Sepia Black.

Still trying to make up my mind about the nib, which isn't as flexy as I was expecting -- but I'm now happy that I didn't spring for a more expensive pen with one of those nibs.

Also trying to make up my mind about the ink, which is, um, interesting.....  But not sure I like the color quite as well as I liked Platinum Classic Lavender Black and Forest Black.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Today I used a Parker International Duofold, a special edition in American Express Green with a fine nib, inked with Montblanc Daniel Defoe.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.
