What pen(s) are you using today?

I have no clue why they chose that name, something’s lost in translation, probably. It’s a bit weird. I only have two Waterman’s: one is a 52 and the other a low end ‘40s pen with a lovely nib. I wonder when they started with the nail nibs?

I don't know when they started making nail nibs... maybe it coincides with the advent of carbon paper.

I never saw the point of expensive watches.

There's expensive, and then there's *expensive*. Even when I bought my Breitling in 2002, it was an expensive Swiss watch, but still nowhere near the cost of many others. I wanted a precision mechanical time keeper (certified chronometre) that could go anywhere (waterproof to 10000 feet depth, or 3000 metres), would survive rough treatment (solid titanium construction, sapphire crystal), and never require a battery or my devotion to winding it (automatic movement). It's not a status symbol for me, it's a tool. I feel the same way about my fountain pens.

Whereas I wanted something that was low end but sturdy enough to knock around.  And I liked having the "sports watch" features of a timer and stopwatch and such (when you have to time something in seconds, like making pizzelles in a pizzelle iron, it's d@mned near impossible to find a kitchen timer that precise without looking at the countdown on the clock on the microwave...).

Waterproof to 10K feet sounds lovely, but since I don't do scuba diving isn't really a necessity for me.

Very cool!  What are those intriguing papers?

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

More importantly, where can I get one of those adorable pen stands with the penguin hold up its flippers?

(And I say that as someone who picked up an action figure Commander Worf a while back in an antiques mall for five bucks + tax (yes, you can make his arms hold stuff, so I can have him display a longer/larger size pen as if he's wielding the Sword of Kahless... B)).

The blue is an older Papaya legal pad, it’s a Portland, Oregon based paper company.
Papaya Art Paper

The A5 crème paper is dot grid is Iroful by Sakae. I found it on sale at Amazon, but others carry it as well. I am trying to see if I can help @USG on his quest for those inks that do the halo sheen. So far, I haven’t had the same effect with the same inks on the same paper. I don’t have the same pens, unfortunately.

I can’t remember where exactly my husband found it, but here are two links to the same one:

I started to mention the Worf figure to me husband, and the first thing he asked was “Was he holding the Sword of Kahless‽ “ 😂

Again,  @USG brought it to my attention. It’s gorgeous. Tbe base color is one of my favorites.

Only the brass one is metal. The other two are plastic and are quite light. The brass one has heft to it.

Oh boy, look what you have, so nice !!!!😀👍  Medium nib?

I'm curious why we didn't get the same results on the same paper.

I got my best results on Cosmo Snow paper using both fine and medium nibs. I just retested on the same Amazon Iroful we both have to see how it shakes out...

The ink's been settling in,  in my Jinaho 9019 for a while so I ended up with a massive sheen that over powered the shimmer.

Here are the pics.

I have to double check, but I don’t think it’s marked and there was no choice of width. I haven’t measured the lines yet. It has a vintage nib feel to it.

Probably the different pens. I have found that inks that I don’t remember being so sheeny are very much so on Iroful, both Cosmo Air papers, and my planner. I can’t get any to do the outline. The pink sheen on that writing sample is outrageous! Maybe I should let it sit for a bit.

The inks I've seen the strongest "Outline" on are Sailor Manyo Yamabuki and Sailor Shikiori Kin-Mokusei, with Sailor Manyo Konagi running in second place, and only on Cosmo Snow or Iroful paper.  The pens I used are Sailor 1911L [M]s.  But I noticed the effect from my Kaigelu nibbed dip pen on the Kin-Mokusei sample, which is why I bought the ink.
