What pen(s) are you using today?

A Smug Dill

Today, so far, it's been the Dove Grey 51 Vac, F? nib -- still with Robert Oster Sydney Lavender.

Hadn't used the pen for several days, but it started right up this morning.

I don't have Nitrogen anymore to compare, but DI Lapis Lazuli will actually dry.
It seems thicker than Nitrogen (their marketing litterature says something about oil base? I need to reread that), but flows well, maybe a little less easily than Nitrogen, but I would certainly not qualify it as dry. I think Nitrogen lubricates a little better, but that's maybe the side effect of the shimmer particules in Lapis Lazuli, that you can feel under the nib.
Nitrogen dries faster on the nib, but as you know is very prone to smudging once on paper. Lapis Lazuli is too, but less, way less. You can actually write with it and handle the paper without getting blue hands!

Apart from that well Lapis Lazuli as I already mentioned has some shimmer particules, but not overly so.

In the end, after having used the two for almost a year, I gave away Nitrogen at the Pelikan hub and kept the Dominant Industry.

Hi LTM

Thank you for your input. Much appreciated. 👍😀

I recently got a sample of Nitrogen from Goulet.  It didn't smudge on my quick and dirty dip pen test, but I haven't tested it further.  When I looked up Lapis Lazuli, it  looked very similar in color to Nitrogen, which is why I asked about it.

I used a Pilot Elite deep red and gold with M nib, and a Pilot cartridge of black ink, a Retro 51/Fahrney’s Cherry Blossom 2023 with 1.1mm stub nib filled with De Atramentis Franklin D. Roosevelt ink, and a DeLike New Moon green marble pen with fude nib filled with Diamine Eau de Nil ink.

Look at those fabulous names.....  Pens and Inks !!  😀👍

Nothing much interesting tonight.  I'm writing with a shattered Bird. A cracked Pelikan M800.  Ink is 1/2 a dropper of Diamine China Blue added to the residue of PR American Blue that had run dry (interesting color).  Paper is Cosmo Snow.

But there's a little more which I'll post on my ink & paper test page.

Today it's been the Parker Red Shadow Wave Vacumatic, F nib, with its usual diet of Waterman Mysterious Blue; and the Noodler's acrylic Konrad "Forbidden City", flex nib, with diluted Noodler's Heart of Darkness....

Various including cross Bailey and waterman expert. That and the new quality German one that looks like it may need some talc to get the best from it. That and time for ink to fill feed properly

Kaco translucent blue "Sky" fountain pen with one of the enclosed black cartridges. F-M nib. It was an impulse buy on "A" on Monday and received on Tuesday.

Blue Parker Slimfold M, inked with Diamine Beau Blue. This ink is a bit dry for this pen but I didn’t put a ton in it, so hopefully it runs out soon. Also rocking a Chinese piston demonstrator, with gold trim and an EF nib inked with CX-22. This one has been filled forever, but it’s so pretty.

Top 5 of 19 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

CX-22 is a Chinese ink, cerulean with gold powder. It’s part of a set that I found on Amazon. So far, I have only tried these inks in cheap pens even though they’re really nice. The reds, oranges, and yellows are a bit dry, but pretty.

Rolf at missing pen has parts, and a local pen club member sent his M800 to Pentiques and had it fixed, he highly recommends them. Poor birdie.

Rolf already replace my blue M800 barrel but the new barrel is opaque and I can't see the ink level.... so annoying.  Mean while I'm really racking up broken Pelikans.  I still have the broken blue barrel an now the red one...  But what I'd really like the most would be to find someone to repair my two Stipulas. An Etruria and a Demonstrator. Both Piston mechanisms failed.

What's a Pelikan without it's most endearing feature?
